What are we NOT supposed to notice while the capture is celebrated?
We all know that bu$h's marionette-masters are quite adept at misdirection. Every damn time some major triumph occurs for the Regime, something nasty sneaks in under the radar.

What is it this time? While the right* hand is busy waving the flag, WTF is the left hand trying to slip by us?

Perhaps the Halliburton overcharging scandal was about to get out of control? Have the recent economic numbers been cooked and some cub reporter was getting a little close to the story?

I remind you that things of this magnitude (Saddam's capture) rarely take place on weekends; that's the News Dump--the time when you release stories that you don't want the majority of people to know about.

I smell so much fish off this bidness that I don't know where to start. Anyone?

1. Sunday morning is prime time for this. Everyone else pre-empted
Noon speech catches the masses coming from church or tuning in for football.

2. I know John Rowland is happy about this.
He is just mad because it didn't take him off the front page of the Hartford Courant this a.m., but he won't be there tomorrow.

5. I agree....
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 01:43 PM by kalian
this whole thing is fishy beyond belief. Whether Saddam was really
captured yesterday or a few months back doesn't matter though...the
effect is the same.
IMHO...its a "two-parter", the big enchilada will be that the
"WMDs are in Syria and Saddam told us so..." Just wait and see.

PS: this is my belief:

9. Rove had to get Halliburton price gouging and that inedible turkey
off the front page. And yes, wouldn't surprise one to learn Saddam points to Syria.

12. "Enjoy the show," indeed!
I share a good deal of your belief, kalian. Notice how the epithet "tin-foil-hatter" has become increasingly rare in the last few months?

8. Halliburton gets my vote, too.
There is NOTHING being discussd on AM radio today except "Shrub's Victory" ( I wonder if they're gonna re-incarnate Beethoven to write a "Battle Symphony" like he did for Wellington?)

14. Planned Propaganda Win
Possible scenario:

1. They planned to "capture" Saddam Hussein between Thanksgiving and Christmas -the great American secular holiday and the Great Christian holiday.

Goal

Dominate the holiday national news and family conversation time when Americans are gathered together with family. Make Bush the positive topic. (Otherwise he will be the negative topic).

Objective: 1.Get Bush linked with the positive values of Thanksgiving and Christmas
2. Make Americans feel good about themselves (We got rid of a dictator). Whoever makes Americans feel good about themselves wins in 2004.

Method: Surprise vist to Iraq on Thanksgiving. Make sure you get Bush pictured with the huge Turkey platter so it looks like he is feeding a prosperous America.
Get Saddam Hussein out of that hole in the ground where we have him sedated.

Next: 1. Declare Victory in Iraq and get a bunch of the soldiers and the media out of there-put our special forces to work instead
2. rev up the political trial news (show Trials worked for the soviets) and keep Saddam Hussein on those meds.
3.Plan for our return-big time-to Iraq to finish our contracts and get our oil right after next election day.

10. let's start with-- the man was supposedly captured with 750,000 dollars on
him, and he was hiding in a HOLE? dirty and disheveled? and where did we get the comparative DNA samples? how long does it take to run DNA samples, anyway? and what about the timing? is this to make us forget the turkey's turkey fiasco?

13. How about Bev's press conference on Tues?
Saddam promises to take up all the journalist attention and air time for quite a while. Who will be left to show up in Seattle? By analogy, the news conference by the plaintiff in the 9/11 case against Bush didn't get any coverage either.

15. Planned Propaganda Win. Ride it Out. Anticipate the Next One

Method: Stage a visit to Iraq on Thanksgiving. Make sure you get Bush pictured with the huge Turkey platter so it looks like he is feeding a prosperous America.
Get Saddam Hussein out of that hole in the ground where we have him sedated. Make sure he looks impoverished, weak, and defeated in contrast to the Bush Turkey photo. We want a clear contrast between a Bush the Winner and Bringer of Good Things and Saddam the Loser. The crowds will go wild. (Too bad we can't parade him through the capital here in D.C. like the Romans paraded their conquered foes through Rome-the crowds loved it back then).

Next: 1. Declare Victory in Iraq and get a bunch of the soldiers and the media out of there-dominate the news with soldiers coming home victorious-put our special forces to work over there instead
2. rev up the political trial news (Show Trials worked for the Soviets) and keep Saddam Hussein on those meds.
3.Plan for our return-big time-to Iraq to finish our contracts and get our oil right after next election day.

Let's anticipate the next propaganda assault.

16. I can see the strings!
Guys come on...let's move on. At least start talking about Osama...you Do hope that he's next don't you? Even if he's being held in deep freeze at Area 51 for the November campaign I still want that day to come soon. Hmmm, is Osama an alien? He looks like one of those guys from "To Serve Man" on "The Twilight Zone" :)

Let's hope that our troops are safe as there's still going to be more killing and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. The truth is out there, just seems like folks are looking in the wrong places.

Then again, whatever it takes to get Bush outta the office, huh folks?
