"N Korea Says It Will Begin Nuclear Testing" The Telegraph - UK
(snip)

North Korea has raised the stakes dramatically in its confrontation with the United
States by privately threatening to conduct its first underground nuclear test, it
emerged yesterday.

(snip)
William Perry, a former secretary of defence under President Clinton, warned that
Pyongyang may have acquired six to eight nuclear weapons by the end of the
year, allowing the regime to target Japan, South Korea and even Hawaii in the
United States.

"I think we are losing control of the situation," he said. "The nuclear programme
underway in North Korea poses an imminent danger of nuclear weapons being
detonated in American cities."

1. Really, I think I've read that about fifty times lately and I still don't
understand the Bush administration's stupidity in ignoring this situtation. Negotiation is the only route open in dealing with North Korea, regardless of whether or not the current squatter in the White House and his thug buddies like it or not. North Korea is not a country that has been isolated like Iraq was, they have no qualms about dumping every dime that country has into nuclear proliferation programs while the country starves. The "shock and awe" tactics of the mess we are in now in Iraq will NOT work with the North Koreans. And the tough-guy rhetoric from President Macho is turning the South Korean people against us because they have the most to lose.

This was the country that we should have been worrying about, not a country that had been under sanctions for a decade.

These dumb asses haven't done one thing right, not one. And I am absolutely postitive that they aren't about to start now.
