Playing now.

Clinton couldn't make it because of bad weather on the east coast.

4. which reminded me
When Chimpy came on earlier, I tuned into CSPAN2 to watch a real president speak - a taped appearance from Monday of Jimmy Carter.

I will never be able to tolerate that asshole on TV as long as he in power, no matter what headline occurs.

5. The late Senator Paul Simon (D-IL) was a class act.
Unlike someone I could name, he didn't have to blow a trumpet every time he did something notable. He helped pioneer financial disclosure for candidates, and he was a great friend of education (especially foreign language study) and progressive causes in general. As it happens, he was also a fiscal conservative.

He recently published a couple of books, which should be on the shelves at your local bookstore.

It's a terrible shame we won't have his wise perspective in the upcoming election. There are few like him.

6. I am a Democrat
because of Senator Paul Simon. I was born and raised in Chicago...my mom always voted Republican where my dad was a Daley Democrat. The first couple of times I voted I followed my mom but after having had the opportunity to hear Senator Simon speak I started to pay attention to politics and I have been a Dem voter since.
