Saddam capture--Dean, Clark statements
Dec. 14, 2004, WEST PALM BEACH-- Governor Dean issued the following statement this morning:

"This is a great day for the Iraqi people, the US, and the international community.

"Our troops are to be congratulated on carrying out this mission with the skill and dedication we have come to know of them.

"This development provides an enormous opportunity to set a new course and take the American label off the war. We must do everything possible to bring the UN, NATO, and other members of the international community back into this effort.

"Now that the dictator is captured, we must also accelerate the transition from occupation to full Iraqi sovereignty."

Statement From General Wesley Clark On The Capture Of Saddam Hussein
The Hague - "I could not be prouder of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces for capturing this horrible despot. This is a testament to their courage and determination. I'd also like to congratulate Lt. General Sanchez and the intelligence community for the crucial role they played. We've been due good news from Iraq and the world is a safer and better place now that he is in custody."

1. Both empty statements of goodwill
Both are the sort of things you'd expect the candidates to say. We'll see if this opens up another window of opportunity, and if Bush makes sure to fuck that up too.

3. "If" Bush makes sure to f**k that up?
There will be many more opportunities to f**k up. Bush will take every single one and f**k up royally. There's no "if" involved.

2. If I may humbly and respectfully point out?

You may notice that neither man criticised another Democratic candidate in any fashion, nor did they praise the pResident instead of the troops that actually performed the capture.

We should go and do likewise, in my humble opinion.

Its like baseball. We can give the Yankees credit for playing the game well, but still think Steinbrunner is an ass.
