A Pyrrhic Victory and How the Media is using it to slam Democrats
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 03:59 PM by Bushknew
IÕm been watching CNN and IÕm completely disgusted with how the reporters
are slamming the Democrats.

Saying that we are hoping for bad news in Iraq, and that we are confused now by the capture of Saddam Hussein.

What realty are they living in?

They found Saddam Hussein not WMD.

Saddam Hussein was probably not even in control of rats biting him much less of terrorist cells.

Congratulations, enjoy your pyrrhic victory.

1. Wait, the media is slamming Democrats?
How can that be? The media is so liberal.

2. Better now than in October, 2004
This will all be a distant memory by the time the polls open on Election Day.

3. yeah, it's going to be rough going for a few months
while everyone who was rabidly prowar touts this as a victory. Just have to hold our ground and remind everyone that we don't wish for the worst and that the real reasn we went was for WMD, thre's plenty of tape and print showing W. Bush saying these things.

4. I would guess rough going for a "few days or weeks"...
If we keep our troops there and they continue to get killed, this "victory could be very short-lived...

8. agreed, the overall value of Hussein's capture is yet to be measured
and unfortunately it could very well be measured in blood. I honestly hope that we can get out of this without losing many more soldiers, I would prefer that and Bush getting reelected than more lives lost and Bush losing. But as you and others have pointed out today this really only puts that much more pressure on GW to get shit straightened out over there and turn the power over to the people. HE needs to prove that capturing Saddam means something besides reelection.

5. Another example of how the consequences justifies the action
In the right-wing (and media) minds, the capture of Husseing justifies our invasion of Iraq.

10. Every Dem that gets on TV has to remind

The media why we went to war in the first place.

ItÕs outrageous.

6. The media sell appearances.
This capture has a good appearance. But the story is evolving.

This was an obvious development.

Spend half the army for several years, kill hundreds of American soldiers, throw away $200 billion tax dollars and get one guy and an extreme maybe on Iraqi stability. Yeah, I'd call that a Pyrrhic victory.

But you know, Bush could come up double zeros on the roulette wheel here. He still might be able to rescue America's investment here. I doubt it, but who knows?

7. They act like pigs
whenever they have a small victory. Then within the week those small victories usually blow up in their faces once reality sets in.
