Welp, Saddam just wiped Howard Dean's face off the cover of Newsweek
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 04:11 PM by liberalpragmatist
If you caught it this morning, the Newsweek Cover was gonna be about how Dean was wrapping it all up. As for Time -- it was gonna be on the Lost Gospels. Guess there's been a last minute change -- Saddam's been hastily pressed onto the cover of both

Guess it figures though -- makes sense.

1. Lost gospels? WHICH lost gospels?
I'm glad the media won't be anointing Dean this week. I'd like at least one primary over before they pull that stunt. So we can at least pretend the voters have something to do with it.

5. of the Bible
You can still read the article online -- my guess is it'll still be in the issue, just not as the cover. I still have to wonder though if it'd be better for the newsmag's to postpone the deadline - I personally would much rather wait a couple days for my copy of Time or Newsweek than have something hastily written this morning -- if you read the newsweek article it's unbelieveably short and doesn't really tell us much.

Here's the original Time cover -- it'll probably expire soon.

6. "...Pretend the voters have something to do with it."
On this point, and a bit off topic, I think the best analogy I can come up with is that the presidential nominating process is like a figure skating championship. The performances are going on right now, on the ice. You can fall on your butt (one or more times), never put on your skates, or land consecutive quadruple jumps.

The voters are the judges, holding up the cards at the end of the performances. But the performances are going on right now.

Then one Democratic skater advances to the final round competition with Tanya Harding and her baseball bat.

2. Saddam Just Made Deadline
It's possible the newsweeklies had to toss a few early copies, in fact.

3. Yes it does make sense...
Dean will get his chance though, IMHO maybe later is better - before the primaries and not over the holiday season. Just a thought...

4. That would actually be the last thing that would help Dean
Getting the Newsweek and Time covers. It is setting him up to win spectacularly when the primaries are going to be hard fought, have always going to be hard fought. If Dean doesn't win a primary by 20 points he will be painted as having less support as he should have. That is going to be even worse if he got more magazine covers.

7. Yeah, I'll Agree with That
And by the way, does Saddam Hussein now get Time's "Man of the Year" award?

11. Even worse
They'll give it to the Moron again because he put his sock in his flight suit, flew to Iraq in his fighter jet and single handedly captured Saddam by knocking him unconscious with his fake turkey.

Or at least that's what FAUX News will have the sheeple believing by Wednesday.

8. I am so tired of TIME
They have innumerable covers about Jesus and the bible every year, even during times of immense quantities of real news. YAWWWWWN.

As for Newsweek, has anyone seen last weeks cover? A priest, doctor, and policeman, with the "how fear of litigation is ruining our industries" or some other such similar BULLSHIT.

If the people on the cover could talk about the headline, they'd say-

doctor: "Wow, I might have to pay a little more attention when I operate on poorer people!"

policeman: "Wow, I might have to start treating blacks in custody the same way I treat whites!"

priest: "Wow, I might have to stop fondling twelve-year old boys testicles!"

Newspeak can suck it.
