Color me confused but wasn't the Iraqi war about WMD?
Not about Saddam or anything else. It was about this threat that was so horrible that we had to invade immediately or there would be no more Mom, baseball, and apple pie because we would all die a horribly painful death due to the tons and tons of WMD.

That hasn't changed. Basically we should not be in the business of invading countries just because we don't like their leaders. Unless WMD are found and a clear and direct threat to the United States is discovered, this capture of Saddam Hussein mean no more than capturing Uday and Kusay meant.

Yeah, it's a good thing that Saddam is gone, but no one has a crystal ball to predict what tomorrow will bring.

The bottom line is that nothing has changed. The reasons we were given for this war are still as false today as they were yesterday. It was for that lack of reason that we were unable to get longstanding allies or the UN's approval to embark on this ill-advised adventure. Should we be proud as Americans that we that we offended most of the world, defied internation opinion and international law, and invaded a country that posed no threat to us, killing thousands of people in the process and mortgaging our children's future to pay for it? I don't think so.

The end still don't justify the means and the road to hell is still paved with good intentions. And to be quite honest, while I trust the intentions of the average American people, I do not for a moment believe that the intentions of the adminstration were noble.

2. No, why would you think that?
It is all in the past anyway, so why are you bringing it up?

3. That's o.k. I'm sure the American public will see through it all....
I mean they have such a stellar reputation thus far of being appropriately skeptical and questioning.

And if they aren't I'm sure all it will take is for us to tell them how stupid and gullible they are. Especially if we pepper those lectures with lots of facts and esoteric news sources. I find that people love that shit and just eat it up.

it makes Big Bro angry when you point out the slimy doublethink

the war was about capturing Saddam and freeing his people. Nobody ever said anything about WMD, or immenent threats... those are all lies told by godless libruls to bring down our great and holy leader...

6. What are you, just another uninformed Democrat?
This was ALWAYS about ridding the world of evil dictators who refuse to allow people the right of self rule. Hussein was evil and we got 'im.

And why, just last week our fearless leader stood up to another evil dictator when he met with the Chinese premier and demanded that his dictatorial gov't stop intimidating and torturing the people of Tibet and Taiwan. Oh, wait...

8. Give it a month or so....
and then the WMDs will be "found", thanks to Saddam's "interrogation",
in Syria... Then, preparations will already have started for the
invasion of Syria. Summer 04.

9. Right on!
I've argued with a Republican on another site along this same line for months. Once the Repubs figured there were no WMD to be found there defense was well, Saddam was a brutal dictator and should be done away with for human rights purposes. In the meantime our gov has withdrawn from the world court, used Mark 77 firebombs (Napalm with a slightly different mix)in the initial bombing campaign, killed tens of thousand Iraqis civilians and lost its seat in the UN Human Rights Commitee. While this news flury of Saddam's dastardly deeds pervades our media for the next year, the #'s 1-8 on the human rights violators top ten list will get a free pass to victimize the men, women and children of their countries, as usual. Particularly #2 Saudi Arabia.
