My cynical opinion about Saddam's capture... and OBL (a prediction)
I recognized Bush's Thanksgiving visit as a publicity stunt... I think the media is working really close to the administration and is treating them with kid gloves (except Fox, information ministry of the Republican Party).

The timing of Saddam's capture is interesting... Sunday morning... with massive coverage before a lot of America tunes in to NFL football. I suspect that Saddam might have been captured much earlier. I also find it interesting that Saddam's capture comes just as the media is starting to report on Halliburton screwing taxpayers (just like they did in Kosovo). The tinfoil hat conspiracist in me thinks that Saddam was kept on ice until a "scandal" was discovered only to trump any possible negative media coverage of the Bush administration.

Here is my prediction: Osama bin Laden gets "captured" very close to the election... maybe 1-2 months, or closer. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm just some looney toon liberal.

Discuss.

1. I am cynical too
and agree with the thread about those who think this capture means the end of Dean and/or a democrat can go and tell Karl Rove to go play with himself.

Sadam may be captured but there are a ton of us who still hate the neo-cons and want our America back.

3. Well...
Cynicism is about the only tool of discernment we have against this administrations shenanigans. I prefer to call it 'being on guard'. You don't even need a tinfoil hat to pick up the little snippets of insanity and paranoia these days. It's right here in front of us in plain sight.

4. I had the same exact thoughts
And I think you are right. It smells.
I don't trust these people. They are probably holding on to Osama Bin Laden, waiting for just before the election.

5. same day as Dean's big national security and foreign policy speech too
They had to pull a whopper out of their ass to drown out the usual Dean coverage. Saddam was about the only thing that would have done it, too.

8. OBL for Easter?
It certainly ties in well with Bush's religous fervor, though it seems much too early. July 4 would be the other obvious date and would provide the ultimate surge in nationalism, but still a bit early.

I agree, an October surprise (2 weeks before the election would be best).
