Don't get me wrong, I still think, realistically, he'll be hard to beat in 2004, especially if the economy starts creating lots of jobs. I know the country is divided, but I thought for sure he'd climb into the mid-to-high 60s, at least for a couple of days. Yesterday, everyone was declaring his election in 2004 a fait accompli. This is just another example of media overkill.

I don't have a link to the NBC poll, but there's a thread on it here.

1. It usually takes a week for the impact of something to hit the polls

4. I agree. I think we're celebrating a tad too early.
Though, I certainly hope that the early pattern is continued. It would be an indication that the American people are actually catching on.

18. since 'Houston, the turkey has landed'
his numbers stopped falling. If someone has it, post that cool chart of all the president's with their approval ratings laid over the top of each other... that puts a perspective on W*'s spikes that is hard to match.

A moderate upward trend is relatively uncommon for him...

19. thats why the stock market couldn't care
the WalMart figures were not happy. Xmas spending isn't looking as merry as before, thats why it went down after a strong rally to begin.

22. Good!
I made sure this year to do my Christmas shopping elsewhere. Maybe that's the way to hurt Wally World. Boycott them during the Christmas buying season.

6. Did you see the photos of people celebrating?
Almost every photo I saw in the news was one person or a tiny group of people. It was pathetic--the media was desperately trying to make it look like there was mass jubilation.

I think most people (like me) are greatly relieved, but not thrilled. I think that if every single American soldier were to return home safely there would indeed be great jubilation, and I would love to see that.

8. Really? Something like this should have given him 10-15 pts.
4 - 6 pts will evaporate in a month.

10. Well, he got 3 points from the turkey stunt
So if capturing Saddam Hussein is roughly as important to the American people as having President Fuckface do a two-hour photo op with mock poultry, I don't know if he'll even get a month out of this.

As I said before though, it's too soon to tell.

Well, this will be "Saddam Week", so don't expect too much coverage of other events.

So next week there could be a jump

17. Mildly surprised * didn't get more of a boost
from the capture of Saddam. If people really were frothing at the mouth to get him, * should at least have gotten 10 points.

4-6 points, hmm... I bet Turb Blossom is disappointed.

21. Man I hate to say it
but if he gets 55, 56, 57 %, we may not have any Senators or Congressmen left. Not that most of them are worth a bucket of warm spit, anyway, at least so far as slowing done the RW agenda.
