Did the Army mess up Roves' plans?
by capturing Sadaam earlier than they wanted him caught? So many of us here and on the radio(Randi Rhodes'show)predicted his capture would coincide with next years election,so as to give the Bush team a much-needed political boost right before the '04 election.I guess they figured with the Halliburton debacle getting more and more traction and REaction that they needed something to get it off the front page(not that it was thanks to the SCLM).Remember not all the military votes for the republican as much as they would like us to believe.Oh well they still have the Osama Bin Laden card to play-that is unless they continue to screw up and get called on it....one can only hope...

1. Nope CIA....
the administration was pushing for capturing high level flunkies when the CIA pointed out it was unlikely that generals were the ones driving Saddam around....

Once again, the CIA pulls the Bushies' boner out of the fire....and shoves it up their asses!!!!

2. You think so Nazgul35? I'd like to think it'll make things...awkward...
For BushCo. And Online Journal made a somewhat compelling case
that it might...

Sure like to think so.

3. sounds like Iraq tricked the US...gave him to us "alive".... and early
the last thing the US wants is a "talkative saddam" sharing how he was supported by the US over the years...how he and rummy did business together .

and if he keeps up the mantra no wmd...what then?

4. Or,
we recently expanded and enhanced our snatch squad, TF 121 et al., along with fresh intel.

And then got lucky when somebody covered the door with a rug instead of good camouflage.

I'm surprised that one with so many admirers as Saddam was able to stay loose as long as he has, the Famous Miscalculator.

5. They certainly messed up by announcing it on a Sunday
I didn't hear about it until late last night when logging on and by then the effect was diluted.

6. It had to be done before the end of the year...(2003)
They got him the same year as the invasion.
Your X-Mas present I suppose.

10. Yeah, that was a boo boo
I thought about it, and decided it must be that the troops were so fired up they couldn't sit on Saddam for a couple of days, no way it would stay out of the public knowledge -- and they'd look worse if it came out they held onto him for any longer than they did.

Putting all their emphasis on catching Saddam came back to bite them in the ass, IMO.

7. My thoughts too.
I also think getting him alive was NOT supposed to be part of the plan. I was really surprised by that.

9. trial run for Osama "capture"
that's what they'll pull out of the hat, assuming they don't declare martial law first...
