Help Me Win An Argument
I hate Saddam as much as everyone else, but I need some links that show that he did accomodate, to some degree, UN weapons inspectors prior to the war.

2. No, no, no...
The only way to win an argument these days is to repeat "Why do you hate America?" and "What about the mass graves? What about the CHILDREN?" then question your opponent's patriotism, vaguely hinting that a firing squad would not be out of the question.

Isn't it?

4. actually, using their own tactics on them really tends to fluster 'em
I've had great success with "Why do you hate America?" "Why do you hate freedom so much - you're either with us or against us."

Give it a try some time, its fun!

12. Good idea
I ran into a bunch of these fools the other night when I ventured into Yahoo chat.

Since these clowns consider themselves 'conservative', I decided to have some fun and hit 'em with core conservative beliefs.

"I thought conservatives were for LESS government?"

"Do you know how much money Bush has squandered in his three-year reign?"

"Why doesn't the administration believe in freedom of speech?"

Luckily, there were a few cons on there that don't like Bush and the Iraq war.

I like shaking up the core.

3. More..
"The New York Times reports today that the regime of Saddam Hussein did actually take the American threat of regime change seriously, and did in fact take actions designed to preserve itself. In fact, the Times reports, Hussein's government initiated backchannel negotiations with none other than Richard Perle in order to avert war."

8. my God, people's attention spans are shite these days
less than a year ago, the RWers were screaming that the inspectors had had enough time, and we must act NOW!

Now, they're denying that inspectors were in Iraq prior to the war?

11. He seems kind of odd???

HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY DON'T EXIST? here's a challenge for you: I'm going to bury a few tractor-trailer-sized items that contain chemical weapons and are buried in the sand in California. i'm going to talk to my friends on secure, encrypted telephones about them in another language for about a decade, but I won't tell you where they are exactly. along the way, while you're looking throughout california, I'm going attack you and your search team (using first military might and then suicide bombers and other guerilla tactics), threaten to use the weapons contained in these trailers ON YOU and another of my neighbors.. you have only seven months to find them. (oh, by the way, i've made many, many attempts to procure these wmds and nuclear weapons too, and i've even used them to kill over 5000 Californians) Got it? go get 'em! This search is far form over, and it can only intensify now that saddam has been held captive. you probably think that saddam didn't orchestrate a single bit of the resistance. well i think there's a reason why he was holed up with almost a million bucks.

That is one stupid rebuttal. How do you know they don't exist???

We have had quotes from Iraqui scientists who said they lied to Sadaam so that he would think he was powerful. He is just trying to add some other BS information.

and don't tell me that america is out of touch with the rest of the world, either. there's a fucking reason why: al qaeda didn't attack paris, it didn't attack london, it didn't attack moscow, and it didn't attack berlin. they came after us because we are americans. no one can tell us that our view of this matter should be the same as everyone else's. if they do, fuck 'em, because their opinions on what we should think about terror are completely irrelevant. the japanese hate atomic bombs, the french hate german supremacy, and we hate terror, all for the same culture-changing reasons. 9/11 will define our foreign policy for at least a half-century

What did Americans do? Central America? Middle East? We have no legitimacy in either region. Why would they trust us??? Why did they target Americans? That is the question he should be asking.

We shouldn't embark on a radical foreign policy or else the negative American stereotype will remain. We should be "working" with the world, not against them.

you never did tell us whom you voted for. I voted for gore. but I support this war because it is making the world more safe, not less so.

Why does he have to find out who you voted for? That should have no bearing in this discussion.

10. This won't work!
He'll do what we would do if we got something from a POS site like NewsMax, and pull the old..."Well sure that leftist blah blah blah isn't credible"

At the very least find something on PBS or the Washington Post.

13. And don't forget
After you prove your assertion, insist your opponent prove theirs.

High School Debate - If one asserts, one must prove. (except of course if you are a christian conservative moral absolutist)
