Focus, Focus, Focus
As a new member of DU, I can say this from an outsiders perspective, without the emotional baggage of having jousted with you guys over the previous months and even years.

Stay Focused.

There are really only two issues preoccupying my thoughts about the coming elections.

1) Battle ground states.
2) Swing voters.

If we want to recapture the White House, it really is that simple. Nobody expects anyone to become emotionless in their support for their candidate, but use your heads and stop with the dispair already.

I have my preference, but i'm more than prepared to vote for the candidate that emerges from the primaries with the best chance of addressing the two issues listed above. It doesn't get more simple than that.

Before you start in on me about the "getting out the base" factor, if we can't get out our base to defeat Bush and Co. after the last 3 years, it really doesn't matter who the candidate is.

1. add "new voters" to that list
Energizing the base is important, and expanding it is crucial.

If everyone under thirty had a half-dozen friends telling him/her that Junior will bring back the draft and go off to more wars, we'll beat 'em so bad that Diebold can't even start to save 'em.

Nice post. Welcome to the hubbub.

4. Glad you are here. Swing voters?
I do not know about them. They vote for very odd things and I think are the one item voter. You hear them on c-span. I was a Dem but I am now going to vote GOP because I do not like this. Or I am no party so will vote because of his tie. They do not seem to believe in a way of life but just one thing. I mean we will hear some say because Bush went to a city and they saw him they will vote for him. Just no reason for a better country.I think they are the wrong people to go for. Most people in a party have a list of things they think that party stands for. Running towards the middle just makes us sound alike and we are not.By the way it took me along time to get to thinking like that as even Clinton tells us to run to the middle.

5. welcome
:hi:

nice post.

I don't want just the White House, though. I want at least one of the houses of Congress, and the other to be very afraid of continuing the same-old same-old.

So, yes, focus, focus, focus, focus, focus. Lots of work, no time to bicker back and forth over minutiae.
