Oh man has the right got wood and coming on hard. As I was doing chores around the house yesterday afternoon for some reason I had Fox on in the back ground and I am surprised they didn't cut themselves on the party hats they were wearing whilest trying to pat themselves on the back. These are just some snippets and may be taken out of context as per the Fox model.
Personally I am glad that the capture took place. Until yesterday morning when word of the magic briefcase of documents surfaced (I must have missed that detail in Sunday's limited coverage) I didn't think it had any real effect on the situation aside from signalling the sure end of his reign of brutality.
Britt Hume and some chinless reporter were beside themselves in they disbelief about Howard Dean's statement that the capture did not change his position on the war. How could he not just come out and praise the great George W. Bush for being asleep while the mission was carried out? How could he not turn 180 degrees from his campaign and excuse himself from public debate? Incredible was the word used quite often.
Later I entered the "No Spin Zone". I missed the Newt Gingrich segment but I caught fair and balanced discussion of leaks provided by the ever reputable David Kay and his inspection team to Mike Miniter. Miniter apparently is an author of a book the subtitle of which is "How Clinton's failures created global terror" so I settled in for a spinfree few minutes. Mr.Miniter, appearing slightly more lucid than Saddam did in his last TV appearance, discussed what Mr.Kay had told him in an exclusive 90 minute conversation that Mr.Miniter was luckily enough to get. Seems that there has been the discovery of quite a few weapons programs just like W told us all along. These included:
missiles with special cannisters specifically made to deliver sarin gas Chinese missiles with a range of 100+ miles payments to the North Koreans for missiles that were never delivered.
Oh yeah and $35 Million of the $40 Million in Iraqi debt to FRANCE was for weapons that were apparently sold despite the sancitons. These sanctions of course did not apply to selling oil processing equipment to the IRaqis so they could have more money to BUY arms by European subsidiaries of a certan VP's former company.
O'Reilly brought him back down from his euphoria by mentioning this super memo that has been found detailing links between Muhammed Atta-Saddam-Abu Nidal-and for extra spice "deliveries from Niger". O'Reilly mentioned that this memo had not yet been authenticated but he just wanted to let his viewers be aware of it.
Sen.Kerry was on next and he withstood O'Reilly telling him what is wrong with his campaign, the Dems in general, and the results of primaries that haven't happened.
Then I entered a "No SPin Zone" discussion of possible media bias of the capture. I was pleasantly surprised to not see the Media Resource Center represented but instead a much more down the middle organization.....Newsmax. Mr.Limbacher was incredulous to the fact that Peter Jennings, Katie Couric, and Dan Rather (you knew that was coming) were not openly cheerleading and whooping it up in glorious celebration of the greatness and annointment of George W. Bush. "Why so much immediate analysis? We will be doing that for weeks and months to come why couldn't they celebrate this fantastic event?" Limbacher sort of said. To give O'Reilly some credit he countered must of these crazy allegations mostly by defending his fellow journalists....er....journalists.
I could go on and on but the message is clear. They are hammering this into the American psyche and will continue to no matter what is actually going on in Iraq.
