Anyone being paid by a campaign should reveal that

I think it's fair for anyone being paid by
one of the Presidential campaigns should
note that fact in their sig line. At least
we'll know when we're being lobbied by

I don't care if someone whose ideas I'm reading on this board has been or not and I don't need to know if they are or not. I'll judge the ideas on the merits, period.

I think it is very dangerous to go the direction of requesting (on edit: maybe the word I'm looking for is "requiring" not "requesting" -- but even requesting this is a slippery slope to requiring) the writers on this board to reveal their affiliations in this way.

Maybe, I haven't been around long enough on the board to know for sure, but I just don't understand why it is necessary to know this about the posters. I think that their opinions are what are relevant, not the underlying causative forces of their opinions. It seems too much like "calling someone out" to me and could result in not listening to the opinion at the least or at the worst, it could result in some kind of hierarchy of good DUers and bad DUers based on whether they were "pure" (unaffiliated).

For instance, somebody who is pushing hard for Kerry and who is also somewhat close to Kerry, to the point that it is likely he/she would get some personal career advantage by supporting him (if he gets to the White House), should reveal that. Obviously, pro-Kerry arguments by this person would be less credible than arguments by people who are not so close.

How would it be any different if it's a paid campaign person vs. an unpaid grassroots volunteer? Both usually have the same information and share issue statements and talking points at meetings?
