Who's more impressive - Dean or Trippi?
I've been amazed by the success of the Dean campaign and am convinced that Joe Trippi is a genius. I loved the recent NY Time's piece on him - he just seems like a fighter with real innovative, outside-the-box ideas.

To me, Trippi is to Dean what Rove is to Bush. The candidates themselves are mediocre, its the strategy behind the scenes that continually help catapult them.

I was reminded of this last night while watching Howard Dean's foreign policy address. It looked like he didn't have a chance to read what others had prepared beforehand. The only times during which he was able to speak without stumbling were when he was reciting lines previously used.

Trippi has energized a generation and made them feel as though they matter. Its like supporting a mediocre band - you don't really care about the music as much as the experience.

The scary thing is that we're electing a president, not getting stoned at a Phish concert.

4. Can't seperate the two

Trippi with a different candidate wouldn't be as successful and Dean with a different manager would still be lagging.

edit: fixed my atrocious grammar

6. Dean
Trippi isnt really doing much of anything. Other than listening to the feedback coming from Dean supporters and running with them.

Hmmm that isnt really fair to Trippi. He has allowed the grassroots to run with this campaign and has provided some guidance on things but a large part of the Dean campaign is a direct result of ideas put forward by suporters on the blog. Trippis genius has been in his willingness to listen to the supporters ideas and putting them to use in the campaign.

7. Not getting stoned at a phish concert?
This is the best you could come up with? Did you pat yourself on the back a la Anthony Michael Hall upon finishing his Breakfast Club Manifesto?

You can't have Trippi without Dean. When are the mindless ABD'ers going to stop acting like they know more about our campaign than we do? Yeah, Trippi brought in the Gary Hart model. The model that was almost 20 years ahead of it's time. But Dean is right there with him. Trippi wasn't dragged there, and if he's sch a genius, surely you can grant that he sees something in Dean that you don't.

Look, I don't care who you support. Apparently, they're not inspiring enough to even be at the front of your mind. That's cool with me. It's one thing that separates my camp from yours. But this Dean on the Brain thing is becoming epidemic. PANdemic. I suggest you take a three day break from this board until you can go for an hour without mentioning Dean.

8. No need to get angry
I think Joe Trippi has been the MVP of the Dean team - he truly signifies the values which many hold so near and dear. He picked Dean because Dean embodies many of those "outsider" qualities.

The best thing about Howard Dean is that he doesn't care what others think. At times, that's also his greatest weakness - particularly on an international stage.

Dean would make a great governor or mayor. And Trippi would make a great .com CEO...and John Kerry would make a great president! :>

9. Let's get straight to it
Did Trippi tell you this stuff, or are you still pretending to be omniscient?

Kerry doesn't even make a great CANDIDATE. I'm not sure how you see him as a good president. How many chiefs of staff do you think he;ll go through ina year?

12. Dean
Dean wouldn't have the success he has without being an outstanding candidate. There is no comparison between Bush and Dean. Dean is much more intelligent and much more electrying on the stump.

Why did Dean/Trippi allow the Confederate Flag Issue go on for so long?

Why did Dean/Trippi allow the Sealed Record Issue go on for so long?

Why did Dean/Trippi allow Dean to go so long without a Foreign Policy team?

Why did Dean/Trippi let it be known they just hired a crack Foreign a Policy team the day before Dean delivers his big FP Speech? It made him look like a dependent newcomer.

Why did Dean/Trippi allow Gore's endorsment, which should have been 100% positive, become less than that. Why did they bother going to Harlem when they could have met in Iowa? When they were in Harlem, why didn't they get some blacks in the crowd and on stage?

14. This reads like a veiled Dean bash to me.
Edited on Tue Dec-16-03 01:12 PM by Cleita
The candidates themselves are mediocre, its the strategy behind the scenes that continually help catapult them.Bush is mediocre. Only someone whose head has been in a hole all this time would call Dean that.

The only times during which he was able to speak without stumbling were when he was reciting lines previously used. Untrue incidentally.

If Dean had time to run his campaign, he wouldn't need Trippi. I would say that Trippi does the job that is expected of him and that Dean and he think alike or it wouldn't work.

Use your rhetoric to convince others that your candidate is better. This should be beneath you unless you don't believe Kerry can't win without sowing some lies about Dean.
