Best Kerry V.P. : Num, Breaux, Bayh, Clark, McCain

There is little doubt that John F. Kerry is one of the most decorated and credentialed candidate for president ever .

War Hero, Prosecutor, Author, Senator, Foreign Policy Leader, wealthy multilingual world citizen, Kerry is likely to be rejected by the Democratic party in favor of Vermont Governor, Howard Dean (perhaps because of his excess of qualification). BUT, HE COULD STILL WIN.

If he did win the nomination, Kerry, the “Northern Liberal,” will have a hard time beating George Bush without help in the ticket.

So, the question is: WHO MUST KERRY CHOOSE AS HIS V.P. IN ORDER TO ROUT THE REPUBLICANS.

And, Please explain. I really want some good arguments and ideas.

Is there another McCain or what am I missing? He's GOP.

Breaux or Clark but Clark has already said he won't be VP. So I'd say Breaux. He has broad appeal down here.

Can you tell I'm from Louisiana?

but I would hope that in his selection he would be as smart as he is in most policy areas... which would exclude a number of the individuals included in this list. He wants an intellectual heavy weight (that knocks out my centrist/lightweight senator... bayh) to match him - and some geographical and experiential balance. A good match would be the policy minded former governor and current senator of Florida Bob Graham.

Why in the world would he pick a conservative, but maverick, republican? That would make no sense.

8. Graham, Yes, Please Propose Whoever. McCain is a Close Friend of Kerry's

And McCain really dislike George Bush. McCain has repeately launched
attacks at Bush for everything from Irac post-war to the deficit
to energy bill etc ...

Rumor is McCain has joked in social circles that we need a "Government of Reconciliation" to deal with the fiscal and foreign policy disaster that Bush is leading us into.

Clark is the best of the bunch you named, except that he should be at the top of the ticket instead of Kerry.

Nunn is a little on the stodgy side. Edwards has the appeal that would woo younger voters.

The perfect ticket.

However, if Dean is the nominee, I could definitely see Evan Bayh, John Breaux, or Sam Nunn all doing well on his ticket. John McCain no, because John McCain is a REPUBLICAN!
