Did I just hear something funny on FauxNews?
My roomate is a Republican so he is watching FauxNews right now. However, I am typing at my computer and they were talking about the decrease in manufacturing jobs. He said that the principal reason why there aren't any manufacturing jobs was because of the Sept. 11th attacks. His source? Economics profs as Southern Methodist University. He said only 26,000 manufacturing jobs have been exported overseas.

Do you notice the mantra? Cite Sept. 11th whenever there is something wrong.

8. Well it is Clinton's fault.
Didn't you get the memo? Sept 11 is Clinton's fault; therefore, blaming Sept 11 is just the same as blaimg Clinton.

13. actually, NAFTA is in part Clinton's fault :p
but there are many more factors... the biggest factor is "free market" happy corporatists who have no loyalty towards America.

2. Whata joke--fair and balanced my ass!
I wouldn't say that you heard something funny, because your roommate, and others like him, probably think this is accurate.

3. that's a good one
Try running that one on the American people. Blaming Sept11th for loss of manufacturing jobs is ridiculous. The Repubs would be better off blaming Clinton, because he at least had to do with NAFTA. Of course, that would backfire too, as it would seem Bush claims no responsibility for problems - yet claims responsibility for all the successes.

4. That's it!
I don't have a girlfriend, and it's all 9/11's fault!

At least I have an excuse now. Why let the RW use it without co-opting it. ;-)

9. Southern Methodists...
whenever I hear of a Christian group calling itself 'Southern', I think of conservatives...
Southern Baptist
Southern Methodist
Southern Lutheran

(Mom was a Southern Methodist growing up, and now is a American Methodist. Still a Democrat, she's gotten more liberal/populist as she got older)

11. What they don't explain
is that the job market overseas is drying up also. It's not that manufacturing jobs are being exported right now, new jobs aren't being created overseas either.

Someone should ask the newsreader about the real problem which is how many manufacturing jobs have we lost since W become pResident? That's the only number that matters to us.
