Smoking Gun State of the Union Al-Queda LIE
Okay, vanity re-post; sorry about that.

I just think this is important, especially since 72% of our fellow Americans seem to still be misled. Since the 911 report debunks all claims of Iraq/Al-Queda ties, and the administration knew this in December, but kept it under wraps, the following is not just insinuation. This is a lie, meant to terrorize us into an unnecessary war.

"Evidence from intelligence sources, secret communications and statements by people now in custody reveal that Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including members of Al Qaida."

It's just 26 words.

Why is this not making a stir? This is bald-faced lying.

1. agreed
let's all send this on to our senators and representatives. start knocking these things down one by one but this one may be the most damaging.

also, couple it with the shrub's own damning words "we will go after those nations that harbor and assist terrorists." to wit: we didn't go after saudi arabia and in fact, the twig himself is harboring them.

3. The sad distinction
that will be made is that the 9/11 report says there is no evidence linking Iraq to the events of 9/11. Bush didn't go so far as to try to make that argument (as far as I know). He was simply saying that Saddam "aided and protected" al Queda. In other words "I never said he was involved with 9/11, only that he harbored terrorists. Can you prove he didn't?"

4. Sure. The proof has been there all along --
Ansar al Islam, which was al Qaeda related, could only exist in the part of Iraq Saddam could not control because it was under American protection. Isn't that proof enough?

Saddam, who is acknowledged by all to be a tyrant, was tyrant enough to keep al Qaeda out of the part of Iraq he controlled, and since he saw them (correctly) as rival tyrants, he had every reason to do it, and he did.

6. Saddam's regime was secular; Al-Queda hated them
I wonder if that's why Junior hated them so much too...
