The Interfaith Alliance, check them out
http://www.interfaithalliance.org/Issues/IssuesList.cfm?c=56

This is an organization or religious leaders and others who have come together to fight the radical Christian Conservative movement. The Interfaith Alliance beleives God should be taken out of the Pledge.

For instance there is this:
The Interfaith Alliance believes that all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation, should be treated equally in the workplace. As people of faith we believe that all employees should be judged by the quality of their work, not their personal characteristics. In the last fifty years America has made great advances in preventing discrimination in the workplace through important civil rights legislation such as the Civil Rights Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Despite these major advances in employment rights, it is still legal in 38 states to fire an employee based on his or her real or perceived sexual orientation.

The Interfaith Alliance supports the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act" (ENDA). ENDA would extend federal employment discrimination protections currently provided based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age and disability to sexual orientation. ENDA extends fair employment practices -- not special rights -- to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and heterosexuals. ENDA provides exemptions for religions organizations and small businesses with less than 15 employees.

Here is their web site. I just recieved my reminder to renew my membership, so I thought I would suggest that people here might want to put their money where their mouth is and contribute. Lots of people complain that religious liberals and moderates don't do enough to fight the religious right.
Here is our chance to help on a problem which we all agree is getting worse, the right trying to create a theocracy.

I am assuming that they have a list of churches to choose from. I am agnostic, but I have felt more spiritual lately (I don't know why ) Maybe I can find a church in my area that I can attend.

This is what the churches used to be like during the 60s - pro-civil rights (or so I have been told: I was born in 1984). Glad to see some of that old style activism. :-)

3. Interfaith Alliance in Idaho organized to counter Fred Phelps....
in conjunction with YFFN (Your Family Friends and Neighbors) just last sunday, I was there, standing on the line opposite Phelps protestors, and it was an amazingly moving and hope-inspiriing thing.

5. Thankyou so much for doing that
Some people have hijacked religion and made it the bastion of scoundrels. We need to do this.
