As a member of TrueMajority, I am concerned about the threat posed by new computerized voting machines.

We start with a principle so obvious it seems strange even to write it: For a democracy to work, the people must believe that balloting is conducted fairly and votes are counted accurately.

Americans feel justifiable pride that our nation has created a system to ensure this, including provisions for recounts.

Have you guys seen Martin Sheen on Inside the Actors' Studio on Bravo? He's wonderful. Among other things, he talks about his activism and why he takes the risks he does and how he got involved in protests and civil disobedience. It is very inspiring to hear him.

At the end, he quotes a poem by Rabindranath Tagore called Heaven of Freedom. (I hope I won't get in trouble for quoting it here.)

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
