Bush re-elect down to 40% in new poll
Definitely vote to re-elect Bush: 40%
Consider voting for someone else: 23%
Definitely vote for someone else: 35%

To two definitelies are a virtual deadheat 40-35 percent. With swing voters being the 23% who would consider someone other than Bush.

Among those who feel that Bush did not exaggerate evidence/ war with Iraq was worth fighting--72% would vote for Bush. 20% would consider someone else and 6% would definitely vote Democratic.

Among those who say that Bush did exaggerate/ but the war was still worth fighting--33% would definitely vote for Bush. 33% would consider someone else and 32% would definitely vote for someone other than Bush.

Among those who say the war with Iraq was NOT worth fighting (37% of those polled) 6% would definitely vote for Bush. 23% would consider voting for someone other than Bush and 70% would definitely vote for someone other than Bush.

2. Put Wesley Clark into the challenger's seat
and Smirk will be looking at about 33% of the popular vote next November. The Republic can be saved!

11. Welcome back to 50/50
Given that undecideds tend to break 2-to-1 for the challenger, that means 50% someone else, 48% Chimpy

. . . at closing time as she tries to coax one more margarita out of him.

16. This downtrend looks irreversible.
I see things getting worse for Bush . . . very little upside on the economy or Iraq.

18. Excellent news!!! Thanks, CMT!!!
It is indeed hard to imagine what might turn this around for them, other than a dramatic improvement in the economy. Watch out for consumer confidence -- that is key...
