Gotta watch the replay!! Tweety almost made Peggy Noonan cry!
Chris Matthews gets my full respect tonight for going after Peggy Noonan like a pit bull. I never saw him so rough on a guest (and she's one of his favorites.)

I'll bet she reams him a big one.

He pressed her on the issue of WHY Americans still believe Saddam is directly involved in 9-11. He pushed her over and over again.

She hemmed, she hawed, she lied, she whined, she pleaded, she nearly cried. She could NOT TELL THE TRUTH. And he called her on it.

And then after the break, he came back to the same issue. Over and over again, he shamed her and exposed her hypocrisy.

MUST WATCH TV.

Please, someone. Make a clip of that for us all!

I've got a thing for Peggy Noonan - don't know why, but I think she's kind of attractive, especially for a repug.

Does that make me weird or something? :)

71. If you like her,
Do you also like Laura Ingles and the super Stepford wife Ann Coulter?

They are all good at memorizing the party line, but Chris turned the question around so that she couldn't use the rehersed responses to common questions. He played Hardball. She was so angry with him she called him "Christopher."

"If the American voters knew that there was no evidence connecting Saddam with 9/11, would they still say they felt more safe now that Saddam has been captured?"

Rove is counting on the average American to be too busy earning a living and taking care of the family to read past the headlines and front page. This way, they could morph Osama into Saddam. (Some of the same letters)

Bush's speaches put 9/11 and Saddam in the same statements, but never linked the two together, the minds of the listeners concluded that the two were linked because they were mentioned together. The speaches were designed for the audience to draw false conclusions.

I don't think it registered with the average working American that Bush actually came out and said there was no connection.

Just injecting a little humor into the thread. I thought Matthews did a great job trying to shed light on the 9/11-Saddam thing. I never could understand how anyone couldn't see through the repub strategy there. They denied that they ever said Saddam had anything to do with 9/11, but everytime they discussed Saddam, there was a 9/11 reference made soon after. Say it enough, and when people think Saddam, they think 9/11. I thought Matthews did a good job trying to get Noonan to admit that there was no connection, and that the connection was oversold. So we agree! :)

And no, I'm not into Ann-thrax or Laura-whatever.

32. Matthews lost my respect during sElection2000...
...when polls showed Bush winning the popular vote and Gore winning the EC. Matthews ranted and raved about how Gore would need to concede the election to Bush "for the good of the Nation." However, when just the opposite occurred, he remained silent:

RIGHT UP UNTIL Election Day, we heard over and over about the “legitimacy” questions that would arise should Al Gore win the electoral map as George Bush won the popular vote. Chris Matthews, writing contemptuously of the vice president’s political morality, noted, “Al Gore, knowing him as we do, may have no problem taking the presidential oath after losing the popular vote to George W. Bush.” The Bush camp, according reports in The New York Daily News, were busy planning to challenge such a result. “The one thing we don’t do is roll over,” one Bush aide promised, “We fight.”

So thanks, in part, to the Whoreth Estate, we have an illegal, unwinnable war that has already claimed 450+ Americans and 1,000s of Iraqis.

I hope the lying Corporate Media Whores rot in Hell

95. Criticism of a RW position on Tweety’s show is so rare
that it is truly remarkable when it happens.

The guests from the right are normally double teamed, or triple teamed against any sort of moderate who they will normally claim is representative of the left. He has said that he was a Democrat, but there is almost never any evidence of that on his show.

45. Tweezer "Turned" Against Dems with RAYGUN
He was a political flunky/operative under CARTER and O'NEILL. In the hothouse of big time political flunkydom, STATUS and POWER come from the SUCCESS of your boss. RAYGUN kicked Tweezer's bosses asses, and Tweezer gravitated to admiring that "success". When he started up his media career he was mentored by G.E. RUSSERT, who had himself already started "turning" whore by "reaching out" to LIMBOsevic and expending his formerly-Lib-bleeding-heart on those poor wingnuts who had been maligned and marginalized, lo those many years. Tweezer started doing video valentines, walking arm in arm with Nancy. He might have tapped into the frenzy of the FAKE impeachment, but "hatred of the CLINTONs" isn't what made him turn. When he's around Senator CLINTON, he is gushing as much as with Nancy. And he tried to be the Press Secretary for CLINTON and got turned down. Can you imagine what a disaster he would have been as Press Secretary?-----making policy on his own, soon resigning over being disciplined. Anyway, he was LOST to us Dems LONG AGO, back around 1988.

he well and truly lost it that night, to the point where Brock couldn't really respond, he was so stunned at the explosion taking place in front of him.

I remember the discussion that little episode generated; highly entertaining, including speculations into the awful nature of diG and his ophidian bride's sexual adventures.

46. the freepers are hoppin' mad
+++Peggy is an intellectual giant next to him. I can't believe she could have had a chance to adequately respond and not crush him like a bug. More info please. Thanks.

+++He shouted over her quite a bit and came back after the commercial and demanded that she answer him "yes or no". What was at issue was a poll about Saddam and his involvement in 9/11. Peggy correctly had a more complex answer that was perfectly comprehensible, but Matthews wanted her to say that Saddam had no involvement in 9/11 and therefore we had no right to go into Iraq. He demanded she name what act of war Saddam had ever perpetrated against the U.S. It went on and on and I'm leaving out lots of detail, but as was said, it was quite heated. Laurence O'Donnell was the other guest and he stated flatly there is ZERO evidence that Saddam was involved in 9/11, so they wanted Peggy to agree with that.

+++It was awful!! He was taunting her and making fun of her and puttng her down saying she couldn't come up with an answer. He was laughing AT her with Lawrence O'Donnell....and she is supposed to be is FRIEND! I DETEST Chrissy Matthews...he is a BULLY with NO CLASS!

+++Anyone see Crisssy Matthews just beat up Peggy Noonan?? What an ASS he is. I detest him now

+++You all should quit watching that spitting, socialist, drunken sissy Chrissy. Even 10 freepers watching drives up his ratings to dead last. Chrissy's wife pushes him around and puts liberal pressure on him otherwise he gets cut off under the sheets. He probably secretly lusts for Peggy.

...he REALLY hates the fact that Bushco has bamboozled half of the country into believing that Saddam was involved in 9-11. He has consistently been a bulldog on that point.

51. "Intellectual giant"? Peggy Noonan?
Oh, that is rich.

He was laughing AT her with Lawrence O'Donnell....and she is supposed to be is FRIEND!

That reminds me why I enjoy Lawrence O'Donnell so much. Poor deluded Peggy - so loyal to her masters. Like an affable Eva Braun.

"Crissy" from 3's Company. Actually, NOONAN is a pretentious, social climbing wannabe. She acts like she wannabes Grace KELLEY-----give it up, fraud.

then of course capturing him is a boost."

O'DONNELL: "It's the saddest thing" (to have this false link). If the bump were based on (right reasons for the attack), great, but otherwise SAD."

NOONAN: "American people are not DUMB. They know SH was a bad guy."

Tweezer: "Back to the question."

NOONER: "That IS the question."

Tweezer: "You're not listening. Do YOU think he was personally involved."

NOONER: "I don't think it can be asked as a crystal question."

Tweezer, "I have to go back to you one more time. Do you think he was PERSONALLY INVOLVED in 9-11."

NOONER: "That's too complicated."

Tweezer, "What act of war did SH commit against the U.S."

NOONER: Sputters and spews.

Tweezer: "What act of war."

NOONER: "O.K., Kuwait."

Tweezer: "Kuwait was an act of war against the U.S.?"

O'DONNELL: "CHEENEE has been creating this fog. Saddam's trial will not contain any reference to 9-11 or else he will be ACQUITTED."

She dodged that question every way possible and he didn't let her off the hook. He actually said she doesn't care (that many people think there is a Saddam : 9/11 link without having evidence).Even when they were signing off CM half chuckled when reading her name.

Tweety, you are too cool.:bounce:

94. Noonan doesn't care
that was great. After getting through with one round against Noonan, he turned to O'Donnell and asked if the American people care as little as Peggy does whether the link is true or not.

Peggy made a strange little noise at that point. :-)

83. Let's Not Go Overboard in "Liking" or "Respecting" Tweety
Don ANUS played a clip of it this A.M., reaching a MUCH larger audience than Tweety's BeanBall show reaches. But when he introduced it, he misstated (on purpose?) that it was a clip of Tweety "accusing Doris Kearns GOODWIN of INTELLECTUAL DISHONESTY." It's hard to believe that the jerk said it that way as a misspeaking. Somebody posted here the other day a quote from FDR saying that whenever anything happens you can bet somebody MADE it happen on purpose. But it was good to see that one or two of ANUS's stooges has come around, or at least just SAID fwiw, our position, that the Iraq attack was launched under FALSE PRETENSES irrespective of removing Saddam, that our kids have died, that there should be OUTRAGE.

I usually cringe for someone in that position, even if I don't like them. But I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching her squirm last night! Oh, the pain on her face! It lifted my spirits -- I was grinning from ear to ear! Matthews has earned my respect (well, until he goes back to kissing *'s ass). And O'Donnell!! OMG! He was just brilliant! God, I hope we see more of this sort of grilling of repukes in the upcoming year.
