9. "Safe Habor" clause
If terrorists strike, the Administration gets to say "We responsibly warned everyone of the risk!"

If no terrorists strike, the Administration gets to say "Our alert system works!"

Government by the spin, for the spin, and of the spin. In Spin We Trust. E Plurubim Spinus. Thank you for this shiate, our daily spin.

3. This is another attempt to scare Americans...
witless. If there is a valid reason for this, give it up, "sources" mean nothing to me...it is an argument of stupidity.

If something happens, (highly unlikely), it is "we told you".

If something happens, it is a disaster, because "Homeland Security" is a scam, and will show how little has been done, except check shoes at airports for plastic explosives.

It's all bullshit!

4. This bullshit yellow alert is just like all the other bullshit alerts
The story of Saddam being captured by the Kurds has not yet broken in the mainstream press. They need to keep it that way. There have been similar circumstances every single time one of the "yellow alerts" has come up. And then 2 weeks later, you read on page d-37 of the newspaper that the yellow alert was based on faulty intelligence. It's all complete bullshit, and it's sickening that people are still brainwashed enough to fall for this crap :grr:

5. Needs a couple more possibilities....
"Generalized hilarity on the part of people who know it's a scam to scare the public into remaining in a state of fear and distracting them from embarrassing news."

and:

"Abject fear on the part of 'let's go to war' crowd."

Cheers.

6. I would add to your poll,
"It is an obvious scare tactic which proves that Bush is constantly milking 9/11, and it may have a positive effect on his ratings."

8. How to play it safe with the new alert levels
http://www.whitehouse.org/homeland/index.asp

TODAY'S OUTLOOK:
- Fearmonger Index: 9.4

- High-pressure Arab-bashing systems moving across the great plains

- 12.7% chance of early morning thermonuclear bombardment

- Scattered evening media-fueled bioterror panics

Be vigilant! The enemy is all around. Americans observing any of the following are hereby commanded to contact the FBI immediately:

- Brown-skinned persons conversing in heated jibberish

- Turban-wearing persons demonstrating emotions other than all-American bliss and contentment

- Sidewalk falafel vendors of ambiguous ethnicity who are unwilling to make change for a fifty

- Arabic store owners or cab drivers who have not begun prominently displaying at least 3 American flags

- Middle Eastern persons who become visibly uncomfortable and/or upset when confronted with your suspicious and hostile stares

- Burka-clad transvestites

10. None
The public has become inured to the constant raising and lowering of alert levels with nothing seen in the public to justify these actions. Doubtless there might or might not be intelligence driving the level changes, but until a major incident happens following a raising, or a lowering is enacted after an incident is foiled and publicized, these level changes will fade into background drone noise.
