Terror threat brought Ashcroft back from vacation - will * stay in DC
"I have never seen the national security leadership as tense and anxious as they are right now," said a second senior federal law enforcement official. He said that even the timing of the raising of the threat level was moved up a day because of rapidly developing concerns over the weekend. Bush administration officials were so concerned, he said, that they sent a plane to Missouri on Saturday to bring Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft back to Washington from vacation.

If something happens - won't it look bad for AWOL if he's off on Christmas vacation at Camp David or the pig farm? Would American people be stupid enough to rally behind him for the 2nd time after he vacationed while the "chatter was high"? And will he still try to sneak off to Baghdad as Mirror alleged?

1. I honestly feel...
...that if they have a Christmas or New surprise waiting in the wings, it'll be what finishes shrub and co off completely.

With all the money they have spent on keeping the "homeland" secure, if they were to let another 9/11 happen, then they are fucked. People will begin to say, "well gee, you said we would be much safer with all these dollars spent, and yet, look what just happened."

Now, of course I am worried that something might happen. My partner still lives in the United States, and I worry for her safety first and foremost. Hell, I worry about earthquakes (because she lives in SF), and I worry about what that boy wonder sitting in the oval office, might do to put her at risk. I might not live under that man, but my heart belongs to someone who does, and being 8,000 miles away from her, makes it a lot worse.

4. Guess I got my answer
AWOL will be off to Camp David and then the pig farm - wonder if he'll sneak off anywhere this time. Good lord if he did and we were attacked.

5. Please note "they sent a plane"

Ashcroft gave up flying commercial in July of 2001 because of security concerns.

I guess he never resumed. So, not only is HE kept safe, he doesn't need to deal with those annoying security checks. How much do these special flights cost him? NOTHING! We're paying.

7. Didn't I read somewhere that * was going to Iraq
for Christmas? Please correct me if I am wrong. This orange alert is the perfect excuse for the * to stay put for "security reasons"
