I know some of you are still hating freedom right now, and I'd really like it to stop. Or could you at least significantly curtail your freedom-hating?

2. I think there are non-realnetwork programs that play rm files

I know, I know, its a terrible format but for some reason its the only one cooperating with premiere and my video card.

get these files:
tinragui1.4.zip
tinra005.zip
stable12.zip

Run tinragui, tell it where tinra is (I unzipped them all to the same directory) and then you can batch convert all your files to .avi format. I used the DivX encoder (it is a shared-work project) and played the resulting daviddespisesfreedom.avi in both the DivX player and winamp with no problem.

Running stable.exe after the conversion is supposed to fix some possible errors, but I haven't tried it yet (not needed in this one case, apparently, but probably a good step to take if you are going to make the .avi's widely available). The conversion seemed flawless, but I'm not going to risk running realplayer again to make a direct comparison.

Cross himself can't play it, so that's the end of realvideo. When I do divx, people complain too - what's the least fuss solution?

I edited all this, then succumbed to some feverish flu ALL WEEK. Christmas? What was that? I was lost to sudafed coma, coughing, and crumpled tissues.

Waking up from it now, these videos all seems like some bad dream.

a bad made-4-tv dream at that.
