in relation to this load of utter bullshit:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=2027&ncid=2027&e=1&u=/chitrib_ts/20031223/ts_chicagotrib/9hopefulsprovingtoomanyforvoters

9 hopefuls proving too many for voters

NEW YORK -- Nine may be the perfect number for baseball teams, Supreme Court justices, the name of a long-running Broadway musical and the planets in our solar system, but it has proved to be a devilishly difficult numeral when applied to the field of Democratic presidential candidates.

In a nation with a famously short attention span, nine candidates appear to be about nine too many for most Americans to remember at this point. A CBS News poll released last month found that half of all registered voters couldn't name even one of the Democratic candidates--nor could 45 percent of those planning to vote in the Democratic primaries.

-snip-

:eyes::eyes::eyes:

so it's "daunting" to choose between 9 Democrats. How fucking daunting was it to choose between TEN Repubes in 1999?

They were:

1)Bush
2)McCain
3)Dole
4)Buchanan
5)Forbes
6)Alexander
7)Quayle
8)Smith
9)Kasich
10)Bauer

can you goddamn COUNT, you ignorant media whores?????

:grr:

12. The republican owned corporate media's “short attention span” and memory
Edited on Tue Dec-23-03 04:31 PM by BackDoorMan
loss is self imposed, only to benefit the GOP.

The republican owned corporate media, very conveniently, always seems to regain their memory when needed to attack democrats (liberals/progressives.)

2. They cannot count and they have NO history
Orwell has proved stunningly prophetic. History for Media Whores and the vast majority of Imperial Subects of Amerika, is what was on TV this morning.

At night, when it ends, a fresh new history is formed to go along with the Pravda of the Day.

The whole thing is so grotesquely Orwellian, I shudder to think what happens when our daily lives beging to be governed by these Orwellian principles of Pravda which the Imperial Amerikan "media" follows every day.

If I had a nickle for every willful ignoring of history by the Corporate Media Whores since the Busheviks seized the nation in the Bloodless Coup of 2000, well...I would've started my own Tv station and been Wellstoned already.

4. I too believe it is BS
to claim there are too many candidates. there's still time in this race. Many Repugs seem to be afflicted with "false memory syndrome".

I must say however, it is more difficult to watch a debate among 9 people than a debate with 2 or 3 participants. By the time everyone addresses the question, I forgot what it was!

8. if there were only 5, the media would comment on how few there are
they are going to bash Dems no matter what... the fact that there are 9 is meaningless, but it HAS to be spun in a negative way. If they cannot find substance to make the Dems look bad, they will create "substance" out of thin air..

I agree that fewer people make a debate easier to follow, but if all they are going to talk about is beauty-contest, fluffy, empty nonsense, it makes little difference how many there are...

5. Oh, also, there NEVER was a choice between 10 Busheviks
The Emperor* was the anointed one from the get-go. McCain, a wretched remnant of the Old American Republic, challeneged briefly, but was crushed by the Imperial Machine.

I don't think we will EVER see a primary like the ones we used to know in those long-dead days.

Our Imperial Primaries are for sham-purposes only, like a Saddam "election".

Come to think of it, Imperial "Elections" are for sham-purposes only, like a Saddam "election.

11. Thanks for bringing this up. I was just thinking the other day of
how many repugs were running in 2000, and now they are making a big deal about the 9 Democrats.

Makes me sick. :puke:
