A lexicographical Xmas gift: Define "Republican"

From "Urban Dictionary," a site where people provide their own definitions of suggested words, you'll find over 200 definitions/pronunciations/ratings thereof---all regarding the dreaded "R" word.

I imagine this has been done many times here in the past, but I don't remember seeing it recently.

Anyway, you'll find many of them entertaining, enlightening (some infuriating---among those, the most ignorant/ill-informed, as well), LOL funny, thought-provoking.......

I found it a nice 'break' from the endless, grinding onslaught of bad, sad, news, notnews, propaganda to which anyone with the slightest progressive bent is subjected......gets somewhat enervating over the long haul.

A narcissistic American citizen who hates the poor and the less fortunate for the discomfort he feels when he witnesses their misery. Republicans are most often ignorant and poorly informed because they lack the humility necessary for true learning.

yes the president is a republican and a lot of people dont like him for going to war with iraq. However many of the perople who wrote definitions for "republican" are VERY VERY ignorant uneducated on the fact that we didnt attack Iraq for oil...but mostly ignorant and pretty stupid. um yea just because president bush believed that saddam hussein shouldn't be able to kill so many of his own people and he didnt think it was fair for the Iraqi people to live in constant fear of there leader (and u cant say they voted for him because he was the only name on the ballot) he is a BAD BAD MAN!! sorry guys i hafta say that alota stuff thats being siad is very ignorant.. but whatever i guess if u want to waste your time posting WRONG facts about a man who was told to run the country after a useless president (clinton) go ahead but get your facts strait first.

One who works for what they have. A member of society who understands that nothing is free, and that if you work for something, and earn it, it should be yours; while democrats believe that we should give everything we have to those who are too worthless to do anything for themselves. Republicans believe that there are good countries out there (UK), confused countries (Fr.), and there are coutries ruled by megalomaniac dictators, whose regions of the world are criminally infested hell-holes, in the middle of the desert.

Republicans understand that 1% of the world population has food, because they went to college, and got jobs, and worked to earn money, instead of shitting bunches of children in some third world country, and is too ass backwards to figure out that he needs to work. A republican is someone who is morally sound, and believes in life; adversly, democrats believe that they can do whatever they want, and that no one can make them do anything but their own selfish agenda.

Wow, Reagan was a good president... and so was Eisenhower. Hmm...Economic prosperity, the good ol' days. Too bad the current recession OFFICIALLY started in the last year of Clinton's presidency, after the failing of dot.com stocks, instead of the propagandated bullshit about it being Bushes fault (although we all remember it was bad well before the attempted stealing of the election by Gore / Jewerman)

A person that knows that hard work is the way to get ahead in life. A person that realizes Saddom has killed millions of Innocent people, and therefor wants to remove him from power. A person that is on the receiving end of the dim witted democrats. A person that is not afraid of there own responsibility. A person that could find the cure for cancer, and still have a democrat argue with him as to why that cure is bad. A person that has to put up with democrats that are only concerned with there own political agendas, and not what's good for the country. The main reason America is still around.

Apolitical party that believes criminals should be treated like criminals not victims. That you shouldn't get paid unless you get off your ass and get a job. That is a republican.

Look at the rampant misspelling in these "definitions." Perhaps this is why republicans support school vouchers.

One who tends to dismiss all criticism as "partisan" or "political". One who refuses to investigate charges of abuse or criminal activity by one of their own. One who feels that it is more important to protect the 'leader' than it is to protect the Constitution? One who considers their cynical "family values" propaganda as the only values anyone should hold. A group of believers who conspire to create a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people in favor of plutocratic, corporate interests. One who believes in absolutist religious intolerance. One who takes their lead from talking heads in the media without logical thought. One who has no allegiance to this country or to those in need, only to the wealth they provide for themselves. One who considers the environment as a means of increasing their personal wealth rather than to protect it for future generations. One who believes that only they have a god-given right to determine the future of others.

Example:
Any fat, balding, sexually challenged, old white guy living today. Soon to include fat, balding, sexually challenged middle-aged white men driving Hummers and fat, badly dressed women with really bad hair and teeth driving mom bombs with Bush-Cheney bumper stickers.

They seem to come in two varieties. The corrupt or the ignorant, covering their own eyes to remain ignorant or covering someone elses while they steal from the public purse.
