Who is Jeremy Reynalds and why does he hate us (DU)?

One link leads to another and in my roaming around the web the last few days I came across this article by a fellow named Jeremy Reynalds about us folks on the Democratic Underground.

I'm not sure whether or not this was posted here before but I thought it would be worth posting so folks can see how the other side looks at us. Aside from being very anti-democrat, Reynolds also runs a huge faith-based homeless shelter in NM and is a self-described al Qaeda terrorist expert. In his free time, Reynolds monitors terrorist activity on the Internet and publishes lots of articles about supposed al Qaeda threats. Apparently, Reynolds doesn't see much of difference between us at DU and al Qaeda.

It's a blatantly "in-your-face" anti-conservative gathering place on the web for apparently mostly rabid Democrats and other like-minded radicals who are convinced that President George W. Bush holds his presidential office illegitimately.

The site is www.democraticunderground.com and the site owners are quite clear about where they stand.

What's apparent about most of the articles and posts is that their authors hate our president and the direction that America is headed. To name just a few, these individuals can't stand the idea of a conflict with Iraq, they despise fundamentalist Christians and private Christian schools and they go into apoplexy at even the mention of a partial privatization of social security. Their radical leftist throwback ideas are terrifying.

If you want to make sure that their worn-out dreams and aspirations don't come to fruition, here's what you need to do. Keep (or start) praying for the Lord's blessing upon President Bush and all the members of his cabinet, pray for the upcoming elections and your elected representatives and make sure that you vote. The results of your failure to do so could be terrifying for the future of our country!

His plea to have his narrow co-religionists pray for the triumph of the Bushite sect reminds me that I also pray almost every day -- for our country to be saved from the Bushites. Thank god(dess) that we have Bill Moyers (intelligent, kindly, pro-social justice and pro-civil liberties) to remind us that not all those who call themselves Christian are like unto the Bushites.

Ridge has made statements about relying on private intel sources? Is this wacko a sample of one of his sources? That is why I am trying to draw attention to his sort.

The diatribe about being against "fundamentalist Christians" and "private Christian schools" and the "praying for the Lord's blessing upon George Bush". We should be critical about tax money for Christian private schools. That's not an extreme position to take, especially given the separation of church and state which is the one of the traditions of our republic. And there is no divine right of kings here in America.

They should remain private, which in part means: no public funding of them.

We could write a DU Bible, swear that the angel Duer, an emissary of the lord Jesus, god, allah, Jehovadeity, nature, etc. INPIRED us to write the sacred text and is thus the literal truth!

Just like the infamous Muslim fundamentalist schools that teach hatred of western ideas and progress. Only their focus is on anything "unChristian" in their distorted view of Christianity. They are oblivious to the fact that they have so much in common with the their Muslim fundamentalist "enemies".

This is pretty typical for BushCountry... I've had hours of fun taking their stories and ripping them to shreds.

BushCountry is right up there with Free Republic but the problem is there are a lot of people who take this crap seriously. These articles by Reynalds are being posted on many other extreme right sites and then from there are being absorbed into the main stream has common knowledge.

The pattern that I am noticing in the last few months is that these stories get posted and then spread around and then a couple of days later, Homeland Security issues an alert based on very similar information. I am reserching that right now to see if I can prove a connection.

In the above articles Reynalds claims to have direct contact with al Qaeda terrorists and he quotes from e-mails and chat groups that he supposedly communicates with them through. Reynalds isn't the only wacko making a lot of noise, excuse me, chatter lately, but he is one of the main sources of the fear mongering and disinformation that is spreading around the Internet like wildfire lately. Who needs al Qaeda when we have folks like this to do their job for them and a incompetent pretty boy running Homeland Security who now gets his Intel from people like him?

I hope that's all they ever do is pray, pray, pray.

we will win handily if the fundies follow this morans advice.

Then it's time the good ole USA picks him up and makes him fess up to what he knows. We have imprisoned people for less.

This letter from daleel_almojahid1 originally started popping up on the Internet around 12/16, five days before Ridge announced that we were going to Code Orange. Was this letter part of the Intel that Ridge based his decision upon?

I feel pretty moderate.

Of course, their hate of anything different from themselves is so deeply ingrained they are probably incapable of thought anymore.

seems to hate the President and the way our country is headed.

So what's his problem with us?

I haven't been over there for awhile but I just knew that the Freepers would be rejoicing over the people killed by the earthquake in Iran. On the one hand, they claim to stand in solidarity with the people of Iran as they brave the "wicked eye-ya-tola" and then they take great joy in the fact that those very same people were killed in a natural disaster. They couldn't care less about anyone in Iran and I their celebration of their deaths undermines their supposed concern with the welfare of the Iranian people.

I remember when they were saying that Iraq needed to be nuked a week after they claimed that the Iraqi people were foremost in their prayers. The Freepers are hypocritical pigs.

He runs a place called Joy Junction if that is any help.

He is involved with this ezine "Bush Country", which could explain his hostility to liberal websites.

I can't be critical of him working with the homeless, but the fact that he accepts no money from United Way or the government sends an alarm up in my mind that he could be creating a cult following of the homeless.

If he is sincere in wanting to end homelessness, it's a mystery to me why he would align himself with the extreme right wing of the Republican Party, which is the least likely one to deliver a solution.

are good people and not all homeless shelters are well run havens. Sounds like maybe Reynalds is too busy chasing internet terrorists to bother to make sure his shelter is a safe, clean and a well run facility.

Monica, who has blue eyes and a soft voice, says her children refused to eat the food the shelter served and they had to sleep on "filthy" mattresses in a big room with strangers. People fought or moaned and screamed through the night. Monica refused to go to sleep, choosing instead to watch over her two small boys. "Who knows what could happen to them here?" she recalls thinking at the time. Tyler was too scared to use the public bathroom and became severely constipated. Jeff watched his son clutch his belly and howl in pain. He watched his wife cry. He was humiliated.

"I felt like, as the man of the house, I should be able to take care of everyone," he says. "Seeing my kids in a place like that? That was tough."

"Shelters are probably the worst," Atencio says. "A domestic violence shelter is pretty calm and regulated, but a place like Joy Junction is pretty chaotic, pretty scary because a lot of the residents are untreated mentally."

not Christian charity but something else. Too bad. Homelessness is so unnecessary in this country if we had the right people running things.

I was on Homeless Task Force in my community last year. It was impossible to talk sense to most of the 'homeless' providers around here. Since I was opposed to most of what they were proposing, I became the anti-homeless. My response was yes I'm anti-homeless, I think everyone should have a home.

I resemble that remark!
