1. The Gropenator campaigned as a liberal Republican.
That's an oxymoron, itn't it? But, everything he has done in office so far is strictly out of the ultra right wing playbook. From rolling back the car license fees so that rich people could get a break on their garage full of late model cars to overturning the bill for alien driver's licenses, he has only proved that he is another bait and switch artist like the rest of them. Incidentally, the car fee roll back has destroyed many programs that poor people and middle income people relied on. The alien driver's license, which was voted on by the public, shows his disdain for the will of the people.

4. There is an arguable glitch in the scoring for school vouchers

One gains "liberal" points for favoring voucher programs, which defies common wisdom. However, it is part of the libertarian ideology for economic reasons. IMHO, the issue should be scored as a economically deregulative rather than socially liberating.

It's not enough, by itself, to alter the balance between the two. Ironically, Ahnold scores closer to the Democratic platform than Gray Davis does. The site shows them as socially similar overall, in any case.

Ahnold:

Gray:

5. Your Charts
Great charts, have you applied this to any candidates running for other offices? Would like to see and compare.

6. You need to jump over to issues2000.org, then

The charts are pulled directly from their site, as are the 2-axis ratings. They score just about everyone who recently ran for congress, for the governorships, and the presidency. You can cross-section by specific issue areas, as well. Plenty of linked quotes for source material. It's a useful resource, albeit flawed in some ways. Note that, as others pointed out in this thread, a candidate can say one thing while running and get scored a certain way, yet once in office behave quite differently. Also, in Arnold's case, it's quite possible that any discrepancy is caused by incompetence rather than intentional deception.

You can take the test yourself, and see which candidates are the closest match to your own viewpoints. For instance, I'm way off in 80/20 left liberal land with Ralph Nader and the Greens.
