Connecticut Legislators looking into impeachment

Both parties in the Connecticut legislature are 'researching' impeachment in regards to our evil Republican governor John Rowland.

The gravity of Gov. John G. Rowland's political difficulties was highlighted Monday by disclosure that leaders of both parties in the state House of Representatives have begun research on the legal and political steps necessary for his impeachment.

Leaders in both parties characterized the research as precautionary and said, at present, there is no consensus for removing Rowland. Nonetheless, both parties independently produced detailed memos outlining measures necessary for impeachment. The impeachment talk follows sporadic calls for Rowland's removal in the weeks since he admitted accepting gifts from state contractors and political appointees and lying about it....

I want Rowland to become the poster child of the republican party. I want him likened to Bush and Cheney. I want people to start talking about Rowland for the 2008 republican presidential nomination. I want him to drag Shays, Johnson, and Simmons down to defeat in 2004.

Democrats should defend Rowland by saying:

Why should Rowland resign or be impeached when Cheney hasn't?

Why should Rowland resign or be impeached when he is such a close, personal friend and ideological twin of Bush?

Why should Rowland resign or be impeached for corruption when Tom DeLay and Denny Hastert haven't?

Why should Rowland resign or be impeached when nothing says "republican" like corruption approved by God?

It would be nice if it happened, but Shays, Johnson and especially Simmons have all distanced themselves from Rowland already. Rowland is not as far right as many Republicans out there - he changed from pro-life while in Congress to pro-choice when running for governor, and he has more often allied with the passive Democrats in the state legislature than with the Republican minority. Rowland is still as corrupt as they come and a bad man overall. I'd still like to find out what is in that sealed police report when his ex-wife called the cops on him...

I would just like to see more of the republican party tarred with the corruption label.

when you look at the size of his alimony payments!

If he has been impeached, especially in a bipartisan impeachment using him would be far more effective than just casting accusation about.
