4. heh--
my favorite post so far

Well stated critique of the Bush hide out from the VietNam war. However, you do him an undeserved honor when you accuse him of being AWOL during that conflict. Actually he was AWOL for a time, but after a certain prolonged absence a person has to be declared a deserter. During the period of his desertion Bush was working in a political campaign in Alabama.

It takes real hutzpah for a cowardly deserter from his country's military forces during war to dress up in a flight suit and strut around the deck of an aircraft carrier or perform any of the ceremonial duties associated with being commander in chief.

I would venture this is the most notorious and shameful assault on relative decency ever perpetrated against the honor implicit in the title of commander in chief. However, he gets away with it. What is wrong with this country that it accepts such a shameless creature as its leader?

His wartime actions make Clinton's evasion of the draft look almost patriotic by comparison.

5. a good comeback from someone

Clinton's avoidence was a little different. He was againist the Vietnam War and made no secret of it.
