political imagery offensive, should I worry?
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 08:48 PM by gkdmaths
Okay, im a new member at a forum called techtalk forums, which are of a computerish nature. Ive been being hit by browser hijacker and I was learning more about them, so I checked it out...

...anyway, my user avatar is a little, well, political. I guess it's too political for one superfreeper on the site.

this is the image:

heres the forum link: check the posts near the bottom

granted, the forum is not of a political nature, I just use this avatar on all of my user profiles, no big deal really.

So, this guy starts nailing me on how I support terrorism and how the child in the photograph is going to grow up to be a "cowardess suicide bomber" (his words). To which I'm thinking "what about the damn Isreali tank?", but I thought better, and refused to get into a flame war with the guy.

My question to you guys is: whats the danger to me if and when this teenage freeper reports me to the Department of Homeland Security? Do you see this image requiring this kind of response?

Kind of funny, really.

Point out that the rock-throwing is a symptom of the sort of discord and hatred this country used to try to defuse before lawyers for the smirking, hubristic Bush boy and their five Supremo Family accomplices stole his right to have his vote actually count and allowed his wrecking crew of handlers to seize power.

Then politely ask him if the terrorists who attacked the US on 9/11/01 were Palestinians. Oh, right -- most of them came out of our "good friend" Saudi Arabia. Ask him why he's so obsessed with a people whose main beef is against Israel when he should be worried about subjects of the Bush Family's good friends the Saudi royal family.

Then ask him if he's ever actually heard the Marley tune -- which encourages vigorous but peaceful struggle against oppression.

Then ask him how he feels about the fact that many in the Arab world see "collateral damage" -- specifically US military forces having killed innocent bystanders in Afghanistan and Iraq -- as a form of state terrorism in and of itself. We're talking close to 14,000 such deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan. Does he stand with the arrogant, dry drunk son of a Bush who thinks he can get away with war based on lies, damn lies and damn f@#$ing lies, or does he stand with those who seek to be part of the solution -- not the problem -- and who are are trying to negotiate a peaceful settlement to conflicts in the Middle East so the rock-throwing camn stop?

That should shut his little proto-Freeper yap.

2. Ignore him. He wants attention, he wants a response

Nothing will discourage him more than declining to acknowledge his existence.

When people say things that indicate that they are either trolling or so stupid that for you to engage would be hypocritical if you condemn tanks attacking kids with rocks, just say nothing at all.

3. Ignore him.
Really. Pay no attention.

Except, of course, if you have reason to believe that this freeper knows enough to mess up your computer somehow. In which case, find another forum. Plenty of 'em out there.

It's sad that anyone has to worry about their fellow citizens reporting them, isn't it?

4. He's a fool. Ignore him.
If you start taking time out to address every fool you run into, you'll be in perpetual timeout.

5. Ignore him.
This person is looking for a reaction. Don't give him what he wants.
