Has anyone read "The Century," by Peter Jennings and
Todd Brewster? Got it from my uncle over the holidays and I find it to be extremely interesting. One thing that is very clear is that history does repeat itself, but only through the forces of rebellion and fear. Even though each situation provoking the fear or rebellion may be different, it still makes profound changes through this repetitive force.

1. Peter Jenings is just another Actor hired by the Corporate Media
At least someone like Al Franken and Michael Moore and even Jon Stewart are funny. Actually Jon Stewart is really funny and informative too. Peter Jinnings makes me want to go to sleep. When actors like Peter Jenings and Ted Kraphol try to be serious, it's more embarrassing than anything else. At least learn to tell a joke or two (and Dan Rathar's freaky outbursts are certainly NOT funny).

Really, it's like Bill O'Really the Celebrity Journalists Faction. Please don't insult our intelligence...

2. Sorry, the Jennings book is truly very good.
Moyers, Hightower, Krugman, Conason....all good reads. But SO is the Peter Jennings book. It is NOT a book of advocacy at all....and if there IS a bent, it is decidedly left. Insult intelligence??? Michael Moore? He is ENTERTAINMENT.....period. When it comes to facts, well, he insults MY intelligence.

3. I've watched Peter Jinings for almost 10 years now
When Peter Jinigs reads his script, he almost always enunciates and speaks clearly and coherently, unlike, say, George Bush. Really, as an actor, I can't complain about Peter Jinigs. He does a great job of reading the script. With feeling, too.

5. this isn't about his broadcasting
it's about words on a page--a book--which highlights the events in the century that shaped up how things played out. The book IS very interesting because while it may be "authored" by him, the facts of history were not of his doing. It was a collaborative effort by many other people and NOT just Peter Jennings.

Understanding how history shaped our country gives a greater understanding of how things have played out now--to our advantage and disadvantage.

Geezee...
