It is illegal, has been for around twenty years now in various states. The law is intended to discourage pill freaks from going from one doctor to the other to get the same script filled. Now then, since the DA made the mistake of getting information about Limpballs massive drug habit, and DIDN'T arrest him for months afterwards, he was unable to catch Rush in possesion of his stash(though I'm sure the fish around the water treatment plant down there are having a real good time). No, the only time that this prosecutor who was on some sort of "liberal witch hunt" goes after Limpballs is when the maid comes out with her damaging allegations in the tabs. Well, since there is a hue and cry after a week or two, the DA figures he has got to do something. He knows he can't get Rush on possession, fat boy was warned and the drugs are long gone. So instead he goes after him with "paper crimes" that are related, doctor shopping, possible money laundering. And since these are regarded as "white collar crimes" Rush is going to get off with a slap on the wrist.
No bub, if you really wanted to see a political prosecution it would have been one that Rush himself reccommended happen to others; busted for possession, possession with intent to distribute, doctor shopping, money laundering, possibly tax evasion, on top of which Rushboy would have had his house, property and other assetts seized under those wonderful forfeiture laws. But nooooo, the DA knew what was going on for months, years, and yet he sat on it until his hand was forced and even then the case he can bring with any hope of success is on the paper crimes. Yeah, that's some real political prosecution there, uh-huh:eyes:
No, old El-Rushbo there, he'll be able to skate with probation, maybe some community service. And in a sense that is a real shame, for by leaving Rush out free and walking the streets it is almost assured that he with die of an overdose within the next five years. Having dealt with downer freaks both on a professional and personal level let me assure that the relapse rate for people who go through these country club rehabs is well over fifty percent, actually it is up in the seventies. And with Limpballs taking the kind of doses that we are hearing about, if he isn't already grinding pills and shooting them, he soon will be. And shortly thereafter he will be DOA from an overdose.
What he really needs is at least a year either in jail or rehab, somewhere off the street where he has no access to drugs. But in your mind that is "political prosecution". But hey, it just might save your heroe's life.
