dream about terror attack
Following is from a dream:

In my dream, I was a member of the diplomatic officer attaché in Iraq. I was afraid of being killed, as it seemed it would come from anywhere. My own collegues were dealing with a serious morale and insurrection issue, as well, I spent much of my time talking with senior (read rich) Iraqis who were trying to get “in” with the latest administration so they could continue their aristocratic tradition and keep their fancy lifestyles and houses. This middle class elite was, in the past, hooked in to the Baath party much as many of the same folks are in the republican party in American… and imagine being a military attaché charged with de-republicanization of America.

I would not mention the dream, except for this second part. I went with the commanding officer, and his family and all the base children on our day off to the swimming pool. As I was in the cool water with a coupla hundred kids, I saw a backpack on the floor of the pool, and then another at the other end, and I felt what terrorism is all about. I was certain that all of us would die in seconds, yet I issued the alert to get everyone out… and we did. The pool was drained and the huge bombs located beneath the water were defused. All the while, I contemplated what it would do for morale if all the kids of the officers serving were blown up.

I come away from that dream still shaking, as the panic was very very real for me, not terror, but intense panic. As every child left the pool room, there were potentially fewer dead. The clearing of the pool seemed to take hours in panic and stopped hearts. I’m sure it is much more real for the people serving in iraq. It also showed me that the people who I was talking to every day, were complicit in a sense, as they know terrorism of that sort actually works, destroying any goodwill amongst the very people who are charged with establishing goodwill.

I share this dream, that perhaps it was a slight premonition. Make sure the swimming pool is safe. The terrorists radicalize political pressures, in a way that, unless the panic of an attack hits you personally, are difficult to know. Oh dear…

1. Think of that nonexistent mental expirience then

what the innocent Iraqis and American soldiers are feeling, the former moreso than the latter.

We live in Fantasia. Our troops shouldn't be in a war. In a civilized society war should happen once a millenia. I feel so bad for the innocent Iraqi families whose kin will probably be the next deranged shits commiting huge attacks on other human beings, and also the American soldiers who were driven to join by economic circumstances.

2. Indeed, all around
Just the dream was a military one, though i never served.

I am sorry for all the deaths, for the palestinean shot with impunity by an israeli soldier to the iraqi killed by an american soldier. It is all terror... and very sad.

There was in my dream, the element of radicalization introduced by the alqueda.... as the mass destruction of several hundred children is not a civilian thought... it takes people like bush to do that.

It showed me the conundrum of those on the front line. How do you police serious political pressures when this radicalization element is pushing it with intended acts of war.

The whole war was wrong to start with. That any people die from Mr bush's decisions, is an indicaton of the depth of his war crimes.

3. I had a freaky as hell dream last week. about a terror attack..
My wife and I are originally from eastern Iowa and her family would always go to Chicago Christmas shopping and they'd eat at this restaurant on some high floor of the John Hancock Building with a really cool view of the city.

Well in my dream, I was there with my parents and my wife, it was so real... Everything, the conversation, the clinking of the glasses and my back was turned to the window and suddenly my mom's cell phone rang and someone was frantic on the other end, My mom said calmly, "Susie (my sister), calm down I can't understand you..." (more frantic yelling at the other end) "Her towel? I don't see her towel. what are you talking about?" everyone at the table and people around are now silent trying to make sense of the conversation. My mother continues... "Her TOWER?! Honey, whar are you talking about seeing her tower, WHOSE tower should I be seeing... and then my mother's face went white... and I everything in the whole restaurant when dead silent, everything frozen... and like in those nightmares that you can't control what is coming I turn slowly around to see out the window.... and sure enough huge plumes of smoke were rising up from the streets for miles around...

(the Sears Tower)

I got the chills just thinking about it again. I woke up so much in a panic... I turned the TV on and then I woke up my wife and cried. it was awful.

4. dreams can be omens
Sometimes they are influenced by media and such, but as i have no TV reception or cable, and don't give a toss about iraq, the dream was especially disturbing.

Perhaps that is what it takes to know more intimately that word "terrorism".
