Can someone tell me why the bush administration is so afraid
of a new terrorist attack? Which is why they are (without evidence btw) refusing to allow French and other airplanes into the U.S. under the pretence of protecting us? Curious that it happened after Gore's endorsement of Dean and also after the capture, I mean revealing of saddam in American custody. I have the answer just wondering how long it will take someone else to give me the answer. There is a coveted prize for the first to give me the correct answer!

1. In all Fairness....
Why do you say there is no evidence regarding the French flight cancellations?

2. There probably is no attack.
They are trying to hid something big like Cheney's office was involved with the CIA boondoggle or something else as sinister. It always happens that way.

6. The French found that most of the names they
were told to check out were not terrorists. One was a young boy; another was an elderly Chinese woman. etc.

7. Exactly! There were no terrorists on that list. Sloppy Intelligence or
another way of attacking the French to prop up their "battle with Europe" in the eyes of their RW Fundie/PNAC Constiuency. Also the Air Marshall problem with GB in that British Pilots refused to fly with Armed Military. You don't hear the truth in most Media Reports but NYT's today had a detailed article on it.

9. They're not Jason. But they want us to be.
The need to keep us in perpetual fear to control us,
and justify attacking other countries and trashing our civil rights.

It's a classic fascist strategy. Hermon Goering would be proud.

11. all those flight cancellations PROVE the Iraq invasion wasn't needed
because here we are, with more threatened attacks than at any time after 9/11, and they are all based on al Qaeda using the same old lo-tech plans and methods they had already been using.

weren't we luring all of the terrorists to Iraq, to fight them in their back yard? "Taking the fight to them" as the mantra goes?

and don't get me started on WMD. If WMD are the way to go, then why so many alleged hijacking plans...?

could it be that toppling Saddam has NO EFFECT on 9/11-style operations?

oh, it be!

12. I have a hunch
we'll see more and more terror alerts before November. Why?...make everyone remember that the last time there was a "transition" between presidents there was a major terror attack (9/11 was nine months after shrub was installed). They'll remind us and remind us till voters will be too afraid to change the administration. I just hope the majority of Americans are too smart to fall for this game.

13. This is why the flights were cancelled
"Terror suspect turned out to be Welsh insurance salesman"

French irritation over US controls on transatlantic flights was reinforced yesterday when the interior ministry revealed that American intelligence based its suspicions on passengers' surnames only.

This led to a child with a name similar to a Tunisian terrorist, a Welsh insurance agent and an elderly Chinese woman restaurant owner being questioned by counter-terrorist police when several flights from Paris to the US were cancelled shortly before Christmas.

15. The bushies are SO AFRAID of a terrorist attack happening
especially since Gores endorsement of Dean and Dean saying America is not safer since the capture of saddam, that a terrorist attack happening would prove Dean was correct and practically guarantee Deans election to the Presidency of the United States.

A terrorist attack happens and Dean would be proven right.

16. Because we're at war.
Yes, that was sarcasm. I keep hearing two statements from Republicans that creep me out:

1. You don't change presidents in a time of war.
and...
2. This is "a new kind of war", a war that can never be won.

Therefore, Bush must be crowned Dictator for life, I assume.

17. Re: Can someone tell me why the bush administration is so afraid.....
They've spent so much time scaring everybody that they've scared themselves :-)

If they are afraid, I would think that it was because bush has shot his mouth off so much about us winning the war on terror. An attack on our soil would show he should've spent less money in Iraq and more money shoring up our defences here at home.
