Take Back the Media one of 15 Finalists in the Bushin30seconds contest!
Take Back the Media is proud to announce that we are one of the finalists out of many wonderful works in the Bush in 30 Seconds MoveOn.org Commercial contest!

We've been invited to go to New York City and attend the Ceremony and announcement of the winner and will be flying nonstop from Hawaii (we've moved to the outer reaches of the Empire, just in case Bush gets back in and we need to flee to Tahaiti and beg for Political Asylum :) ) to NYC for the festivities.. they'll be showing all the finalist's work there and there are tickets for anyone that wants to attend.

It looks like there is still going to be voting so please go and vote for your favorite - we hope you'll support our ARMY OF ONE ad there and help get the word out.

All thanks to MoveOn.org and the other folks working this contest (Moby, Jonathan Soros, etc) for creating this - they have an amazing amount of competitors and TONS of good ads.

We told you we were going to make this a commercial - and there will be other good news about it later as well :)

We're kicking Bush Admin Ass and taking names!

Come and join MoveOn.org and get this evil man out of office.

Do you know how many entries and how many finalists? When is the ceremony? What other big-wigs are going to be there?

Sorry for the inquisition. I'm just so excited for you that I want to know more details. :D

6. Here are some details
And thanks for your support, you've always been there for us :)

Dear MoveOn member,

With over 2.9 million votes cast, we're proud to announce the finalists in the Bush in 30 Seconds ad contest. These ads have been
selected by the rating public from among over 1,000 ads submitted. They're potent, poignant, and funny - it's a great mix. They perfectly
capture the grassroots approach to politics we're pioneering together.

If you're in the New York area next Monday (1/12), please join us at Bush in 30 Seconds Live, an awards show to celebrate these ads and
announce the winner. The show will be hosted by Janeane Garofalo and include performances and presentations by Margaret Cho, Moby,
Chuck D, John Sayles, and other special guests. With comedy, music, and some of the best political ads the world has ever seen, it'll be
a great night. And thanks to a few generous donors who are covering the costs, every cent you pay for tickets will go toward our $10
million campaign to expose Bush's policies in swing states.

You can get tickets now online for $35, $75, and $150 at:
http://www.moveonvoterfund.org/b30slive.html

We also have some special packages for donors of $1,000 or more - check out the bottom of this email for details.

Without further ado, the finalists are:

http://www.bushin30seconds.org/

Due to popular demand, we're also adding three new categories for the contest: Funniest Ad, Best Youth Market Ad, and Best Animation.
If you register, you'll be able to vote on the finalists in each of these categories starting on Thursday. You can register at:
http://www.bushin30seconds.org/runoff/index.html

We're also working on making the top 250 ads available online indefinitely.

For everyone who submitted an ad or participated in the voting process, thanks for making Bush in 30 Seconds an incredible grassroots
phenomenon. With this kind of creativity on our side, President Bush's policies don't stand a chance.

Sincerely,

17. For those of us with "Dial Up"....Quicktime is too slow. "Flash" is
better. Why did everyone suddenly go to QT? I have the latest QT, but it takes too long to download each of them.

Symbolman, didn't your earlier ones use "Flash?" I used to be able to go onto your site and download in maybe 2-3 minutes. Your last one you posted on DU was QT and I never could view it.

Maybe my memories is screwed up (no...I don't do drugs) but it's almost impossible for "Dial Up's" to view these ads.

And, there are a "HUGE" amount of us oldies who stay with Dial Up plus many who can't afford "Cable/Broadband" who WANT TO SEE THESE ADS!

HELP!!!!!!!!

21. Congrats, you all made the AP Wire
Web Site Compiles Pile of Anti-Bush Ads

January 5, 2004, 6:55 PM EST

SAN FRANCISCO -- Ask liberals to participate in an advertising contest dubbed "Bush in 30 seconds," and you'll get more than a few negative entries.

Faces of American soldiers killed in Iraq paired with video of President Bush making the case for war. An elfin Bush impersonator taking money from the elderly and delivering it to a corporate doorstep.

<snip>

MoveOn members chose the finalists. The winning ad will be announced next week, selected by a panel of Democratic activists, including filmmaker Michael Moore and consultant James Carville. It will air during the week of Jan. 20, when Bush delivers his State of the Union address.

23. A lot of really negativity in that story
of course they are all slamming the Nazi/BUsh connection - Political Hate Speech?

Where have they been? What about old Willie Horton with the Racist/Rapist/stereotyping they did with Bush one?

And why aren't they complaining about my "Bush is not a Nazi so Stop saying that.."?

Probably because it contains FACTS they don't go NEAR :)

What a bunch of maroons.. at Least old Eli set them straight..

This may be fun :)

24. Unfortunately, the 'liberal' press is going to do
their best to make sure that anyone and anything that opposes Bu$h Boy is portrayed in a negative way. The only comfort is that bad press is better than no press.

26. These ads are so Right On!
It's hard to choose. I do like the "Bring em On" ad. I think that one may be the winner. Showing all those pics of the dead soldiers and Bush* in the background with his famous bring em on speech. I think even a repuke would vote for that one.

I wish they could all win.

27. Better than an academy award!!
All of the finalists are amazing! I don't see how they will be able to choose.

We need some rich liberal like Ted Turner to pay to put all these ads on TV 24/7. How do we get ahold of the man? Anyone know? I'll beg.

I think DUers should be very proud of you Symbolman. You are one of our shining stars. Good luck. Break a leg. I hope you and Mrs. Symbolman have a great time in NYC. Say hi to Michael Moore for me. And don't forget to come back to DU and give us all a report!
