Anybody remember UltraMan?
Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 09:36 PM by nu_duer
He was an otherworldy metallic super hero that was "channeled" by a member of the Science Patrol. Every week, as the Science Patrol spung into action, UltraMan, with his various super powers, fought monsters/aliens that threatened earth. UltraMan had his weakness, tho - the little flashing light on his chest indicated his power level, and when it began to blink rapidly, his time was getting very short.

Anbody remember this stuff:

Ultraman:

The Science Patrol:

The Monsters:

eidted to give credit to the site where I found this stuff: http://www.waynebrain.com/ultra/man.html

1. I loved that show
still do. I have several tapes worth of the old shows and the 7 Ultra Brothers vs. the Monster Army movie (no subtitles). It's the trippiest thing I've ever seen.

Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 09:42 PM by nu_duer
He held up the "beta capsule" and said something...

edit: actually, according to that website, he doesn't say anything. Could have sworn he did.

Same station showed Kimba and Speed Racer.

Macross II was just on Starz Action Channel. Defeating superior firepower through Adult Contemporary Music.

9. where's that creepy Zebra-looking monster?
Didn't it have some crazy hair or something? And could disappear?? Anyhow, I watched these guys all the time on the best channel of the '70s in DC, Channel 20. They showed Everything, so it was a rush to get home from school.

11. this guy?

I don't remember exactly what it was he did. The one monster that stands out is the one with the giant lobster claws and the one that looked like a siamese, uh, monster.

This dude has all the monsters at this link, with a lot of other UltraMan stuff:

10. Using the beta capsule, Hyawata (?) becomes...
ULTRA MAN! I loved that show when I was a kid. About the only thing I can remember is that when the light on his chest started blinking, he had to head back into space or he'd die.

When I was in high school, some friends and I did an "Ultra-Man" spoof. Some highlights (or lowlights, as the case may be):

The theme song:

Ultra Man! Ultra Man!
Here he comes from the sky...SPLAT!

Using the beta capsule, Hyawata becomes...ULTRA MAN!

(Huge crashing sounds)

"Whoops, guess I should have gone outside before doing that..."
