Someone said run Clark as a Republican
I just realized how profound that is.

Anyone think we could talk him into it?

they are trying to get you to accept Arnold as a reasonable alternative in CA - after all he's married to a Kennedy they keep telling you - though, as I remember, she's a Shriver - married into the Kennedy's. Don't let your guard down.

Clark - never even admitted to being a Democrat. Why not?

If Clark runs against the Bush in the primaries, we've gotta win, one way or another.

4. Noo
Clark isn't a Republican. This would be no different than saying "Why doesn't Dean run in the Republican primary." It wouldn't be logical. All of Clark's views are Democratic. And besides, I'd rather Clark win the Democratic primary fair and square, and annihlate Bush in the general election. Which is what I firmly believe will happen if he runs.

5. It will never happen, though - primaries means he would
have to be a repub without a chance - I don't think there's a question of him running in the primaries against Bush.. If he runs in the dem primaries, he takes away from the frontrunners - votes and media coverage - and we lose.

7. Because he has been a nonpartisan public servant his whole life
and because holding off on announcing your party when you are running as an "outsider" candidate is a good way to catch swing voters.

But if you have doubts, I am willing to lay serious odds in your favor that if he announces, he will announce as a Democrat and nothing else.

(I am so sick of this "Clark is not a Democrat" meme. It's so obvious that that's the only way he'll annnounce.)

8. Republicans don't challenge a sitting Pres
Reagan v. Ford was last time and they aren't likely to do it again. I think it would be a bloodbath. I would like to see Bush v. Clark in the primaries.
