4. I normally am NOT an atkins advocate, but in this case.....
High pro diets do cause quick weight loss initially. also, cut out as much salt as POSSIBLE! No canned or frozen foods, and check all labels. Lots of water. Lots and lots of water. Lots of protien, and only whole grain carbs.

I went on Quick Weight Loss Centers' diet a couple years back, and it was pretty similar to South Beach. I lost 12 pounds in 10 days, but that included salt restriction and 3 days of "carb withdrawal." I ended up averaging 2-3 pounds per week thereafter. Other than the first three days, it was a pretty balanced diet... lots of lean protein, fresh veggies, fruits, and very limited starches.

5. water pills (diuretics)
Get 'em over the counter at your drugstore. Not a good long term solution, but they will get the job done in the short term.

6. I've heard that with the South Beach diet
you lose 10 pounds in the first 1-2 weeks.

There's a book out about it now... it's like the Atkins diet, only not quite as strict.

Good luck!! :)

8. This will work.
Cut out carbohydrates from your diet almost entirely. Look at the packaging on anything you eat. Take total carbs and subtract fiber. The difference is "net carbs." Eat 15-20 net carbs a day FROM VEGETABLES ONLY.

WARNING: You will go through withdrawal for 1-5 days that is worse than coming off alcohol or painkiller addiction (yes, I know.) I was cranky, irritable, headachy, and generally felt like shit. But I woke up on day 6 feeling great and have felt great ever since. :D

SECOND WARNING: drink a minimum of 1 gallon of water a day.

THIRD WARNING: go to www.atkins.com and read up on it -- there are some health conditions that make Atkins a bad idea for some people. Make sure you're not one of them before you do it.

However, it will work. You will burn FAT, not muscle, and you should easily lose 5-10 pounds in a month.

This plan (a slight modification of Atkins) has taken 40 pounds off me in the last two months. 5-10 in one month should be easy.

9. You can tape yourself up top and cut up to half an inch
depending on the design of the dress...models do it all the time...you'll need someone to help though.

19. I am assuming the dress zips up to your midback
you can wrap duct tape around you in the area where the dress needs to zip to pull you in...works like a corset...

Surgical tape is what we used in theatre. Duct tape will take your skin off. :-(

25. Nah models do it but they use lotion under it
the tape sticks to itself and then you cut it off..but surgical tape would probably work better with what is probably a wedding dress anyway

29. I never did
Nor the models I worked with. But hey, this is Chicago. Maybe we're just different here. We always knew the surgical tape secret. Duct tape was what they supposedly used in beauty pageants.

Now, if you want to talk about spirit gum or liquid latex...........

But, gee, what a great exfoliant! And don't bother with that expensive Epilady! And never mind again about those pesky nipples!

You will have the smoothest, most feature-free torso this side of the Venus de Milo!

Run, drink lots of water, and pee as much as you can. I lost 6 lbs in 2 days doing that. Eat light meals.

Edit: I did it when I was younger. :freak:

Riding a bike would also work. Anything that makes you sweat. You're just losing water. Just watch that you don't dehydrate yourself.

23. Proper foundation garments
I know it sounds ridiculous, but seriously, the correct bra (really important!), as well as shapers like the kinds Nancy Ganz makes (Victoria's Secret also has a decent line) that are made from lycra, one piece and basically shape the body into place while being very comfortable can work wonders. Take your dress with you and go to the mall, if you want to avoid unhealthy crash dieting, that is. :-)

BTW, I used to do theatre costuming, and there really is very little that can't be rectified, so try not to freak out too much. If you insist on dieting, cut carbs, particularly simple carbs, sodas and anything that might cause you gas (don't laugh - just imagine me lacing up a very gassy young lady into a corset and you will see what I'm talking about).

Caffeine is a diuretic, so don't worry too much about cutting that out, just make sure drink enough water as well. Cut out alcohol (until the wedding of course :-) ), fast food, and soda/juices/all sugary liquids (they add up big-time!). Combine those changes with good foundations garments and you should be good to go in a month.

26. Seriously
talk to the dress people where you got the thing.

Tell them the truth. It is not the first time that has happened.
Chances are they may be able to let it out a bit here and there.

Don't wear it too tight no matter what you do.

I can't recall her name, but some lovely shy lady was crowned Queen of I think Denmark(?) in the fifties(?) and they made her wear a tight gold sheath. She had to kneel and bend her head to receive the crown and this was televised. There was a terrible ripping sound and the next thing you know the poor thing abdicated and went to hide in a convent. I am not sure when or if she came out of that place. I really do not watch the royals much at all.

Anyhow, try adjusting the dress to fit YOU.
Avoid thee, the nunnery.

27. A month? Hell, you could lose 30 lbs. in that time.
Juice fast. I did it for six days once. Lost 15 lbs. Mostly water, but still, I was noticeably thinner (less fat).

Drink some milk (for protein) to not lose too much muscle. Don't have much fruit juice. You have to have some sugar for your brain to function properly, so have some fruit juice every day. But half a glass twice a day is prolly enough.

Fasting's not really that hard to do - easier than a diet (cutting down), that's fer damn sure. And it's not dangerous for healthy people. The history of mankind is one of feast and famine. It's normal for us.

30. Please don't engage in any rapid weight loss without seeing a Dr..
Any type of radical programme could result in serious physical trauma and in the event of such things as undiagnosed heart problems, even death.

after you were fitted needs to see you in this dress-

Don't play around with weight loss; go back to the seamstress, or seamster (if he's a man? Seamster?)-

39. body wrap
One of my girlfriends had relocated to Texas and her dress was here. Needless to say she did not try on the dress again until she came home for the wedding and of course she could not zip it all the way up. She got a body wrap on Thursday and basically fasted until Saturday.

She was hungry, but she was able to zip the dress up. She did eat on Friday, but it was vegatables and fruit.
