Do I need a break from DU?
Looking over my recent posts, and thinking back over the last several months, I see very little humor and a great deal of bile. I know, we're all angry about what's happened in America, but I feel like I'm losing it. I rarely have anything positive to say, even about the Democratic party. DU has become one of my primary sources for news and commentary, and the community here is wonderful, but I fear that I've become so angry that I might no longer have anything positive to offer. Every time I post I wonder if this is the time I'll be banned, although in truth the mods have been wonderfully tolerant of my angst. I feel like I need a few months on a desert island without news or communication.

I have gotten to know you and don't think your posts are unreasonable...but we all need a break now and then.

4. thanks....
I've particularly wondered whether I've alienated long-timers and regulars. I'm really pissed off and haven't had many positive things to say lately.

8. I've had that feeling too and some I have
and some I've worked it out with and some I haven't...I don't fault you for your anger even if we disagree on some aspects of what to do about it all.

10. I've had to take a break myself
It's been a little restrictive around here lately. ;-) I'm not good about having to avoid certain subjects. I'm better at avoiding certain websites, it's safer that way. That way I won't get any more threads locked.

But I can never stay away for too long. I miss everyone too much! :loveya:

14. You freeping, flaming, unprincipled mole!
I couldn't agree more..;)

This is a nice place to view Latest Breaking News or updates on the few remaining liberal media outlets. Otherwise..posting anything controversial can be considered either excessively insulting or even vain.

2. I often do.
A week off from DU, now and then, is helpful to maintain one's sanity. Best of luck to you! :hi:

3. I take periodic breaks for just your stated reasons
I know the whole world is not corrupt and facist, but sometimes it looks as if it is. Moreover, I am SO angry that just 20 years ago, I read Orwell's 1984 and told myself: This could NEVER happen here. Ol' Orwell really missed it, didn't he?

I NEVER dreamed we'd be staring at this Howdy-Doody, plastic-haired, close-eyed, coked-up religious terrorist doing MORE than Orwell could have imagined, and telling us black-is-white, good-is-bad, up-is-down AS IF WE WERE STUPID!

Yeah, I'm REALLY angry, mainly because one-half our nation believes so differently from me that sometimes I question my own sanity (what AM I missing?) So, occasionally, I take a break from DU. But I also take a break from Democracy Now!, all newspapers, NPR, etc. I simply get a gullet-full and I can't take it anymore.

No I'm going to watch the rebroadcast of our idiot-in-chief.

7. neat moniker/sig....
I'm an entomologist and among other things, I teach a course in aquatic entomology. At least half of my students are fisheries science majors with greater interest in fly patterns than flies. Actually, that's not entirely fair, but many of them are definitely there to learn how to recognize the hatch....

5. Only you know if you need a break.
And yes, the DU mods are AWESOME!

I find I need to step away from the computer sometimes too. It is always maddening when you know too much about what is going on; and sometimes feel powerless to stop it.

Go smell some flowers, play a game of chess, or be romantic with someone for at least an entire day or better yet, the weekend. Just a short break can recharge your batteries. The fucked up world will be here when you get back, and together our righteous rage will be channeled into removing the malignant tumor festering in DC.

Now, go play!
