Calling all DU Insomniacs!!
*passing the caffeine* What are you doing in these late/early morning hours?

I'm working, reading the new Cosmo, eating Jolly Rancher jelly beans, and chugging Mountain Dew. Gotta love late nights! Your turn!

13. not real sure
I think everyones definition of porn is different, its an individual thing. I never really got into the whole porn thing, I've never gone to a porn theater or had a subscription to any magazines. A number of years ago I had a little photo studio and did erotic type photography for women who wanted something special for their mates. I guess the debate comes down to the difference between art(erotic) and porn and that should always be left to the individual to decide.

I think I need to buy a new pair of boots. I honestly don't know how the American people who are going to vote for him again can stand themselves. I know it's partly because of ignorance/lack of knowledge, but still. I know it's not a perfect world and life's not fair - but how can we keep doing this to ourselves?

29. They've
become the party of patriotism and religion. The country has always had the patriot and religious camps. What this administration did was to take the reagan policy of combining these camps into one. What you will see in the coming months is more "bible-speak" and Americanism in this administrations speeches. By combining the nations religious leaders with the patriots they will have a commanding force in politics. Its nothing more than a "christianizing" of America. An Us against them place in the world.

37. No not at all
I'm old. I studied Marine Biology in college. I Spent a few years at Microsoft and now am trying to "reinvent" myself as a writer. They get away with it by using a phrase borrowed from the cold war's greatest enemy, Karl Marx, "religion is the opiate of the masses". In the old days that was used against the Soviet Union and communism. Today the right wing neocon's here welcome this idea. It serves their interests to use religion and patriotism as an "opiate" to keep us in check.

43. Journalism would rock
You have to admire the few honest journalists left. As for advice I'd say write anything and everything your heart tells you too. Write down your thoughts every day, keep a journal, and really go after anything you feel passionate about. There are some journalists and authors here. I only know of two, Will Pitt and ummm this guy who emailed me about my last article here, Let me look up his name, oops didn't save his email. He was a nice guy, just don't remember his name. Publish on every website that will take your stuff. As far as education goes I think its much more important to just write than to sit in boring classrooms and have someone tell you how to write. I'm all for higher education but real world experience is very, very important.

The journal thing, yeah, that isn't a problem. My problem is I write ALL the time. and most of the time I'm on a soapbox or pouring out my feelings to a sheet of notebook paper that can't say anything back. Thanks for the advice though. And I agree about the experience thing. I'm actually working towards my GED (I'm supposed to be a senior this year) so community college is going to be my only option for at least 2 years anyway. I guess I just really want to make a difference and my thoughts are that writing may be able to do that.

The only productive thing I've done lately was working my ass off for the Clark campaign in my state.

67. See
your the future. A good place to start is researching activities in your community you disagree with. Lets say a school board decision, or a local campaign. Find as many like-minded individuals and organize a protest. What kind of community do you live in? Rural, city? Each have their own idiosyncrasies that one could organize against, like a farming community not allowing workers to organize or a school board decision banning long hair. These sound trivial but believe it or not, these were the same things we fought 25 years ago.

I remember doing my first about the history of gambling and rum running along the texas coast in the 20's and 30's. Alot of old-timers still didn't want to talk about it. It doesn't have to be like a real interview, just engage them in conversation and see what they think.

I had 2 good nights in a row of sleep this week, and then, as always, it turnes into fitful tossing and turning. Hits hardest right after a cycle of good sleep.

Of course, my caffeine addiction during the day has nothing to do with this. :eyes:

52. I have no idea what the problem is
for the past few months, my arms and legs itch beyond freaking belief! The only relief is benadryl, which puts me to sleep and gives me a hangover effect the next morning.

I feel like I have some horrible disease.

With some young people in Iraq. More than a little interesting.

My roomie's car has bad front bearings, so I got to tear his front end apart this evening. Lotsof fun. (Shameless gearhead here.) My plan is to purchase a couple extra parts from a junk yard and hand them to him when the job is done and say, "Dunno what these are, but I'm sure they're not important."
