This is the photo The Globe and Mail chose to use for their story on Bush's Press Conference.

What subtle point do you think Canada's national newspaper is trying to make here?

3. Can he ever pull a 'normal' pose?
Or is he just terminally goofy-looking.

8. terminally goofy, from all apparent evidence
I've never seen a photo of him in which he did not look like a moran.

5. He looks as if he is on the verge of tears
That must have been after someone asked a non-scripted question. I certainly hope Canada was able to witness the sheer hilarity of the five minutes Bush was forced to go off book. It was priceless comedy.

7. Scary thing is, there were people in my office who felt sorry for him.
That's the Bush paradox. The worse he performs, the more people pity him. He's like the sympathy-sex of politics.

10. I liken his presidency to having the 'slow' child on one's soccer team
He doesn't run as fast, he often doesn't kick the ball in the right direction, and he rarely scores goals. But he is mentally disabled and he's trying! Everyone else on the team has to accommodate him entirely because of guilt or sympathy.

11. It's the 'but he's just a regular guy trying to do his best' syndrome.
Hell, for that particular job, I'll take an elitist snob who actually knows what he's doing over a non-entity.

'Yeah, but he looks like the sort of guy I could have a beer with'
Fine. Have a beer with him. Just don't give him the damn car keys afterwards!

12. One of the main criticisms of John Kerry has been that he's an elitist
And he's aloof. I thought about this for a long time. I don't like elitists a whole lot, and I don't like people who are strangely out of touch with culture outside of the Beltway. But I don't like those kind of people on a person-to-person level. In America, we have had over three years of a 'regular Joe' President, and from that I can honestly say that I know feel that it takes something other than that to lead a country. It takes knowledge, skill, and an ability to see the world in shades of gray. And it just might take a bit of elitism and aloofness. After all, he is the President.

14. It's not a personality contest. That's the problem so often.
I don't care if I don't like my leader, all I ask is that they be competent and show an ability to deal with complex situations. I'd much rather have a bastard who was competent than someone elected on a spurious notion of likeability.

Didn't click with me that it was Morrissey for a moment.

15. W. is "thinking": "Hmmm. What would the Wad do in this situation?
That's what I gotta asked myself. How would the Wad answer some snotty-nosed reporter asking him if HE ever made any mistakes? Ha! . . . I know exactly what Duck Wad would do in this situation. . . . he'd close in on the lil' ol' mike . . . and bark out one hell of a QUACK!!!! . . . Wow. What a way to kick off my new Duck Wad campaign . . . Everybody's going to be so surprised. . . . I can't wait. . .. Here goes!. . . "
