like the lousy reviews of books or movies that manage to be quoted in the blurbs--a time-honored tradition.

Example:
Spin: "It's hard to advance freedom in a country that has been strangled by ... our nation's interest."


Actual quote:
"It's hard to advance freedom in a country that has been strangled by tyranny. And yet, we must stay the course because the end result is in our nation's interest."

"America's objective in Iraq is limited ... to ... hatred..."

Actual:
"America's objective in Iraq is limited and it is firm. We seek an independent, free and secure Iraq. Were the coalition to step back from the June 30 pledge, many Iraqis would question our intentions and feel their hopes betrayed. And those in Iraq who trade in hatred..."
