How do I get someone onto Air America?
Suppose I know someone who would be incredible at talk radio, and who wishes to use her powers for good instead of evil.

How can I get her onto Air America?

1. I believe the policy is like that of olden times
in that whoever kills a host gets the host's place ;-)

2. It's not an easy sell!
I personally know a number of people who are trying to get on AA. At the minimum you'd need to send them an audition tape. I do know, however, that until they have another round of financing, they are unlikely to add any more shows.

Does this person presently have a show?

Does she need more exposure?

If so, perhaps I can archive her show on http://www.WhiteRoseSociety.org/ ?

Might not help her chances, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

Sorry not to be diplomatic, but I'm just trying to be honest

There's 230 million people in the US. 115 million are Democrats. About 10% of those think they can be talk radio hosts.

That's 11.5 million people trying to get one of 20 positions. The odds are a little better than winning a lottery, but not much.

I've done talk radio (sports talk). It is the second most difficult entertainment job, right behind stand up comedy (I've done that, too). It's all you out there on the air... no crutches. You have to fill 40 mins an hour all by yourself. There are VERY few people that have 120 mins. of things per day to say that are worthy of listening to.

If they have that much talent, send them to start off with stand up comedy open mike nights. If they have talent, they will show it very quickly. If they can't make it to being, at the very least, a featured touring headliner comic, they will never make it up the ladder far enough to be considered for a talk radio slot.
