Rod Stewart......love him or leave him?
I sorta liked him but I think he got
stale in the 1980s. Now he is singing
old standards. :puke:

My favorite song by him is "Maggie May."

How do feel about him? :-)

1. Love his early stuff, but he hasn't recorded anything worth a damn...
...at least since "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" in 1979.

Talk about jumping the shark....

2. Liked him with the Faces...

and some of his 70's stuff, but he's stunk it up since the 80's. However, I did like his version of "People Get Ready" (mainly cause of Jeff Beck's playing).

edit: It was the Faces, the Small Faces was Steve Marriott's band.

3. Absolutely loved him
when he sang with the Jeff Beck group back in the late 60's. He was awesome to watch live back then (sigh).

7. He played a late afternoon summer show in Boston one year....
and then we walked down the street to see The Who at night. What a summer night that was.

5. I loved him in the 70's and ..
I like his 'new' old standards too. But I like swing dancing and they are great for that.

11. Very good in the 70s..
sporadic in the 80s (staples like "Some Guys Have All the Luck" were released then,) and in the 90s, he lost me completely. He has a good voice for rock, but not for standards. His raspiness detracts from the mood of the standards.

13. I agree. I thought he sounded out of place
when I heard him singing a standard song.
I guess even he has to pay the bills.

12. I've hated him since "Tonight's the Night"
I thought it was crude, insensitive to women and I heard it EVERYWHERE when it came out.
His earlier stuff was OK, "Maggie" being the best.
