man, that place is so weird

but the class disparity is really striking. you'd occasion the swankiest shopping centers, and get approached by homeless children whose forearms were severed so they might reach passersby's wallets through their hearts. you couldn't give them money, you had to give them whatever food you have on your person. and the five-star hotels were surreal . . . if you looked out your window you could see the dregs of society shitting along the riverbank. and then there are the expensive restaurants, where you'd overhear some numbskull in a suit displeased with his order demand of the waiter, "do you know who i am? do you know who i am?????" and what does the waiter say, the poor jerk. "sorry, sahb! sorry, sahb! sorry, sahb!"
