Soldier in Iraq - Christmas package
At Christmas time I participated in SoCalDem's projects and sent packages to both a soldier in Iraq and her contact for Iraqi families. Didn't expect to hear anything from the latter as it was a real general project.

But I'm worried about the soldier. I wrote a nice, chatty letter (no politics) and included a family pic of us and invited him to respond and let me know if there was anything he needed, etc. Even included some labels with our address.

I never heard anything back. I didn't necessarily expect an ongoing correspondence, but I was hoping for at least an acknowledgment so I know that it got to him.

SoCalDem, should I have expected something? Is there any way I can (or should) check? Since there doesn't seem to be a list of wounded (at least what I can find)and (thank God) his name is not on the "other" list, I don't know what to think.

Have any others received anything back?

2. A while ago she said they were sent home or back to their old
stations. My Christmas package was returned, badly damaged and undeliverable.

3. I believe they were sent back to Germany
for a while, and then a possible deployment to Afghanistan. This may have occurred around the holidays, so it's possible your package missed the soldier during his travels.

I sent out packages to several guys, and one never responded in any way, so I never knew if he got it or not. A couple of the others wrote very nice letters and one even sent me a Christmas card signed by him and several members of his unit, whose names I didn't recognize. He must have shared!!
