The French Quarter Festival
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 02:25 PM by BOSSHOG
Time to come to New Orleans Alert: Starting at 7:00 tonight through Sunday night

Awesome food (cheap) throughout the quarter and along the river walk. Free music throughout the quarter. The weather forecast is awesome.

The French Quarter Fest is a nice prelude to the Jazzfest which takes over NOLA the next two weekends.

Allow me to tempt you:

Blackened tender Catfish, smothered in Crawfish Etoufee and piled on a bed of angel hair, sauteed and lovingly seasoned veggies on the side, oh my!

Yes, let the good times roll.

2. GIE, you offer more excuses than george bush
get your ass to NOLA soon. Put it on your calendar. It doesn't matter when, Pere Antoines and the Tropical Isle are beckoning you from afar. The Crawfish are whining, EAT ME, SUCK ME, PINCH ME. The girls are begging slowly and undulating and offering "beads" for beads. Hotels are cheap between May and August. Do you really need a reason?

3. My birthday in June!!!!
Dats when I should go!

I'm moving in May (gotta save dem pennies). Might be buying a place too. :scared:

But I think I should treat myself right in June. I'd like to convince some friends to come with me. Shouldn't be hard, right?

4. It hurts!
We are not going to make it to Jazz Fest this year and I am so upset, what a line up! It was wonderful last year. I am not even a big jazz fan but could not have had more fun and heard more good music anywhere. I love New Orleans. I am hoping for next year. My hubby and I will then be empty nesters and a lot more free to take off. Have a wonderful time. Hey, next year we should all meet up during the fest.

5. One of these fine days we will have to have a Hawai'i tent at Jazzfest
Seriously. And not with Don Ho, either. One popular style here is "Jawaiian", or island-style reggae. Could you deal with that? How about some Hawaiian plates with kalua pig (a smoky pulled pork), laulau (pork wrapped in taro leaves, called "callaloo" in the Caribbean, and steamed), and of course poi?

Next day: Jake Shimabukuro, master of the electric 'ukulele (no snickering, please; must be heard to be believed) and island-style chili (flavored with ginger, among other things) served over rice.

I mean it. Our tourism bureau could sponsor it, since as we all know, people come to Jazzfest from all over the world, not just N'awlins.

If for some reason the islands were to sink back into the sea tomorrow, I just might end up back down there...
