as a red sox fan, shouldn't you be wary of doing this again? It's been my experience that Sox fans, unlike the intellectually superior Yankees fans :D, are superstitious about this stuff.

37. 2001 2001 2001...

I bought a NY Yankees hat after they beat the Seattle, Mariners in 2001 and the Yankees have never won a World Series since I bought that hat.

2001 is now to the Yankees what 1918 is to the Red Sox.

After September 11th, alot of arrogant Yankee fans acted like they were owed the World Series. THAT arrogant attitude in 2001 is now their curse. Hope you enjoy it. Take it from one who knows. It is not fun.

but I think IT IS FUNNY AS HELL

hahahahahahahahaha,

The curse is a 50 pound weight around the neck of the Sox come October. It's a psychological barrier they can't overcome.

Aaron F***'ing Boone...

33. Just got through reading this entire thread
and first message made me realize you were talking about the Boston Red Sox.

Being from Chicago and a Southsider I thought mistakenly this was about the White Sox. I'm not a White Sox fan, I'm that anomaly a Chicago South Side CUB fan.

Wouldn't it be absolutely wonderful that in October 2004, the Cubs played the Red Sox for the World Series.

I honestly wouldn't mind if the BoSox beat the Cubs. Just to see these two teams "play for everything" in the two best baseball parks, Wrigley Field with the "ivy in the outfield" and Fenway "with the green wall" in the US would be sublime.

The only thing right now that I can think of that would top this fantasy is that John Kerry wins in a landslide in November.

Oh, well I can dream can't I?

38. NewHampster, I've been a Cub fan all my life
thanks to my blessed mother, who was another anomaly like myself. I learned in 1969, 1984, 1989 and most importantly in 2003, don't count your chickens.

As for a Cubs v. White Sox, it would probably bring "civil war" to the Second City. Only joking, of course, to use an old Irish expression, "the craic would be ninety" here in the Windy City.

I can just imagine what a celebration would happen in Chicago if either team won the World Series. Even though I am a Cub fan, I would love to see the "Sox" win, even it it was at the expense of the Cubs.

The last time either team won a World Series was in 1919 and every baseball fan knows what that was.

39. I love Chicago where the pols are windy
Boston is windier you know.

But I love the architecture of Chicago. I'm in awe whenever I'm lucky enough to get there.

So, would it be the El Series or what?

40. No, it would be the "Subway Series"
according the sports pundits here in Chitown.

You're more correct labeling it the "El Series". Every native Chicagoan calls our city's transportation system the "El".

As for Chicago architecture the next time you get here, if it's in the summer or the early fall, take the Wendella boat tour. You can catch a tour boat on Wacker Drive.

The tour boats take visitors down the Chicago River, i.e. the Wrigley Building, et al, through the locks and out onto Lake Michigan. It's been awhile since I've done this, but from what I can remember, the tour boat goes approximately 2 miles out on the lake and stops opposite Buckingham Fountain.

You get to see the Chicago skyline in all it's glory, as well as Soldier Field, the Adler Planaterium, the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium and Lake Shore Drive, aka LSD.

I don't mean to sound too chauvinistic, but I LOVE my city.

BTW, I'm not going to spellcheck this post. I apologize for everything I misspelled.
